Thread: MEW, would less be more?
01/12/2011 09:39:34
Gentlemen,

I enjoy MEW and dont find a problem with the number each year and I find all of the articles interesting even though I may not use them.
As to reading the magazine it does not take me very long at all particularly as I also have Practical Classics, stationary Engine and Steam Railway to read each month as I have interests in these and run a classic car and collect Stationary engines.

Neil,

I dont envisage any problems fitting a three phase motor, at the moment , the inverter is going into its own box as I want to fit a potentiometer to control the speeds plus an EM Stop. The unit is fan cooled so the box will also have filter inlet and outlet ports to stop muck getting in, a bit OTT you may think but I work with these units in my job and they will run for ever if you look after them.

The reason for change is the flexibility I will get, thread cutting wont be so frightning because of the fast lowest speed I currently have, DC Braking etc.
As it comes together I will keep you in the loop.

Gentlemen,

This is my first posting on this Forum and I'm wondering if anybody knows a supplier of good make 3/4hp three phase motors for my lathe.
I have recently acquired a Seimens 420 inverter and now I'm looking for a four pole motor to go with it to convert my lathe.

Thanks,
