Thread: Through spindle stick out... |

--- I wonder if a modern update of the Radford bush would be to mount a ER collet holder (of a different series to the one in the headstock) in the same place. Good idea as it would positively grip the work; however, it would also likely foul the gear cover when closed. Incidentally, another advantage of the JAR holder is that chips from boring are less likely to be deposited on the gears. |

I forgot to mention J A Radford's neat design for the Myford in his book Improvements and Accessories for your Lathe. He shows a bush holder clamped to the tail end of the spindle. Mine lives there permanently and is useful for other purposes. Here it is supporting an impromptu draw bar: |

I have a selection of wooden bushes, OD to fit the spindle bore and ID the stock, the bush a push fit and located at the end away from the spindle nose. |

here is one of several if you care to look also gives an idea why Record used some American threads as they like others just copied the Stanley designs. Though do check if it's an American or English made Stanley and of what vintage as the newer UK ones have some metric threads. The two pdfs in that link have a lot of infor too. Again, thanks; I have bookmarked these for future reference. I suppose that using the American threads gave some interchangeability for spares. |

Thanks, Jason. And for pointing out the post-editing facility which I think is sometimes helpfully used to show the item has been sold or found. |

The current For Sale ad Sale: colchester bantam mk1 fixed suddenlysuggests that there is room for improvement somewhere! PS I see that it should have been a Wanted but I doubt if that can be laid at the forum's door. Edited By ega on 30/09/2022 14:34:33 |

...Ordinary tyre pressure gauges don't fit Presta valves and anyway the amount of air they waste as you press the gauge onto the valve affects the tyre pressure you're trying to measure. And they usually don't go up to 100+ psi which some bike tyres do.
It sounds as though you need to invest in a track/floor pump equipped with a gauge. If you get one with a Presta/Schrader connector you can also use it for topping up the car tires! |

For the benefit of anyone inspired to make a GM 4 way it is worth mentioning that they are covered in his book Projects for Your Workshop. |

Gray: Man thanks for your comments; those exploded 3D drawings are a boon to those who like me sometimes struggle with old-style ones. Martin: My GHT 4 way was made with the help of a bought-in ratchet from Hemingway when his name was Neil! I wouldn't be without it despite the current popularity of QC tool-posts. |

Thread: Myford hand wheel dial |

Got it! I was having difficulty in reconciling your dial numbering with my recollection of the stroke of the standard arrangement which, incidentally, in my case at least did incorporate a thrust race. |
21/09/2022 15:10:54 |
Thanks for explaining. Am I right in thinking that you have modified the stroke from the standard 0.3 in per turn as in the GHT version? |

Martin Kyte: What, please, was your thinking behind the tailstock zero being stamped on its side? Just curiosity as I'm a lever feed user. |
