Metric/imperial? 1" = 25.4mm what's the problem? What you're going to make determines the size of machinery to achieve this, AND the size of workshop to house them. My V10 with vertical head is more than adequate for my needs, won't cater for a 4" Burrel but I don't want to make one. Don't be drawn into the machine snobbery clique, take a long look at what you want to achieve and make your choice. If you have a dicky back, DON'T look at the Omnimill, you have to bend down to switch it on and off, even as an apprentice (decades ago) it was a pain in the back although a good versatile machine to use. Blidgeports, great (sorry Sir John, I can hear you screaming BEAVER) worked on one for years in the toolroom, had chance to buy a well looked after example BUT would have needed a power bulge in the garage roof to cater for the motor. Look at NEEDS not WANTS. Regards Ian. |

Basic types a firm where I worked was 304 for general purpose, 316 for Hygenic applications or 321 for heat applications. Yes there are Inconels and Nimonics for ultimate heat but we are talking toy trains, not F1. Regards Ian. Edited By Circlip on 26/06/2021 08:54:43 |

Wonder if there's a formulae to determine the spacing required between a posting and reply to ensure a navel contemplation as opposed to a posterior verbalisation without a hint of paranoia? Regards Ian |

Used to use an expired one year passport as POI at a bank close to where I worked, distant to "Home" bank but essential for cash withdrawals at lunchtime. First time I used it, got into a "Discussion" with the bank clerk re the validity of it. My argument was that there was a stamped, certified and sealed photo on the document together with full residence details. One question asked was "Have you got a Gas/Water/Electricity bill with you?" My reply being "The Photo is a good likeness?" "Who says a none photographic document is proof I didn't go bin raiding?" First time, Manager had to verify to clerk it was ok. No problem on subsequent visits. Still smarting after the legal theft of £7500 TAX from a pension. Regards Ian. |

And don't forget the secondary use of one shot Barbies, ideal for igniting the local moorland. The two Blitish hot sunny afternoon preoccupations, Burning food outside or some plat with a strimmer. Regards Ian. |

Last Barbie I went to was the ultimate. Air display at RAF Mildenhall when they used to fly the SR71. The stench of hundreds of burger burners vying for the great unwashed coffers by the various base detatchments. One use for fifty gallon oil drums cut in half and hinged like a giant clam shell. Regards Ian. |

"Yes, it’s that time of year fast approaching." Yep, the A & E departments will be loining their gurds for the influx of burns and food poisonings. Other self inflicted injury rushes are holidays and the injure yourself brigade. "I love the smell of napalm in the morning" Regards Ian. |
