Thanks for that….I did buy a Armadale 500watt motor expecting to be a simple fit….however it is 10mm to long to fit the space available …if I move it back from the space the belt fouls all sorts of covers….so my new master plan is to fabricate a bearing block, fit in original space ,fit a pulley on each end of new spindle and work from there….I want to get this lathe up and running to sell as I have a Myford on the way….very excited ! Thanks for your input. |

Thanks for that……I got the motor for nothing so would like to use it…..I read that quite s few have used brushless 500 watt motors using motors that are available for sewing machines and they come with digital controllers…..can I not get a similar controller and hook it up to my SIEG motor.

Hi , my 250watt mini lathe motor has a fault……I have to keep cleaning the armature to get it to run…..I think there is a short in the windings……so, I have obtained a 500wattSIEG brushless motor…having now done a bit of research it’s not just a case of connecting the wires to the old wiring…..can anyone tell me in very simple terms if I can fit the SIEG motor and how to do it…..the motor is a Seig W80-500 WD 230volt. 2.8 amp……is it really 230 volt or does it run on a lower DC current. the motor has a black box on the back end with 2 x wiring harnesses One has blue, red, brown and green/yellow (Earth) the second harness has 6 wires with a small white plug on the end. thanks |
