as a beginner so to say, been in engineering for years but not really wanting to build but might be happy restoring or finishing something off,my problem is what to get thought about model steam boat but I would have to travel to use it so maybe later after I got something else first. Thought about stationary with a boiler etc but keep coming back to traction of which scale though I'm guessing 1 1/2 inch upwards . Definitely not trains although they are very popular with a lot of model engineers ,so here I am seeking advise I'm living in ilminster Somerset so may be influenced by what's about near me. Thanks for any thoughts forth coming

Hi Pete there is an alternative to reversing gear and that's a valve that ported to reverse the steam from inlet to exhuast that reverses the motor and can control speed all in one unit hope this helps I have a d10 and it will work like that
