Thread: There may be a delay in some deliveries ... |

The Evergiven is still in the Great Bitter Lake, I wonder whats up with it? |
Thread: MS 'Edge' - Points and Pitfalls? |
09/04/2021 20:56:09 |
I used edge up till they made the major update, then it got too awkward to set some simple security controls. |
Thread: Tom Senior s head alternatives? |
09/04/2021 19:26:39 |
I have just this minute noticed a Bridgeport M head (MT2 spindle) on ebay UK, no. 174726011243. |
Thread: Sky tv controllers |
09/04/2021 19:02:55 |
I have a spray can of Servisol switch cleaning lubricant, it will last for years. You can buy them directly from SKY if you look on their website, I once bought a Star Wars one for my old HD box. Edited By old mart on 09/04/2021 19:05:20 |
Thread: How do I remove this small bearing? And the one behind it. |
09/04/2021 18:57:34 |
Removing bearings with the proper tools is normally a one way process, they should be replaced with new ones fitted properly so as not to damage them. |
Thread: Recommended suppliers and services |
09/04/2021 18:54:12 |
Arc Eurotrade, Tracey Tools, APT, and Cutwell are good reliable firms. |
Thread: MS 'Edge' - Points and Pitfalls? |
09/04/2021 18:52:04 |
I struggled to make sense of the security settings, got frustrated and now use Firefox. |
Thread: Colchester Student 1800 headstock bearing adjustment |
09/04/2021 15:28:55 |
Lathes UK sell manuals for most lathes. |
Thread: (bicycle) thread identification? |
09/04/2021 15:26:31 |
If the bike is old, the threads are likely to be BSC, but metric has been used for the last 40 years. |
Thread: ER40 collet nut seized |
09/04/2021 15:23:28 |
I have never had any trouble, but I think the threads are very slightly oily. |
Thread: How do I remove this small bearing? And the one behind it. |
09/04/2021 15:21:26 |
I'm with Alan for a couple of small holes. The bearings are likely to be cheap to replace so damaging the old ones won't matter much. Try heat first, you might be lucky. |
Thread: Help needed with identifying a tool |
09/04/2021 15:16:48 |
Another way is to drill holes in the jaws of an adjustable spanner and fit pins. It all depends in the circumstances and whether you have the tools to make things. |
Thread: Source of 2 inch balls for water pump |
08/04/2021 15:23:42 |
Phenolic resin balls are water resisting and would be a very good choice. The snooker/ pool balls are available in 2" and 2 1/16" diameters, I think they would outlast wood. |
Thread: Does anyone recognise this stuff [presumed Stainless Steel] |
08/04/2021 14:30:07 |
You may find it difficult to machine, I would use the sharpest hss tools and use aluminium grade inserts if you use carbide. |
Thread: Problem with an Altivar 11 driving a 3 phase motor. |
08/04/2021 14:23:20 |
Fingers crossed, then. |
Thread: Anti seize grease on Myford spindle nose? |
07/04/2021 14:43:11 |
I would clean the threads and then give them a light coating of oil, do the same with the female threads also. |
Thread: Hangar door suspension |
06/04/2021 20:57:21 |
The suspension will certainly be adjustable for height, but the only way to assess the job will be with a ladder and no.1 eyeball. There must be something at the bottom to stop the wind from blowing the doors in and out. Edited By old mart on 06/04/2021 21:00:26 |
Thread: Boxford Model C leadscrew half-nuts |
06/04/2021 20:52:55 |
Posted by Speedy Builder5 on 05/04/2021 19:43:45:
Not suggesting you buy these, but it shows re-threaded Southbend nuts I looked carefully at the advert and was confused. There was mention of the nuts being original, but the threads looked like steel inlays. The seller should have cleaned the muck out of the threads, though, before taking the photo's. |
Thread: Mystery Mains Connector |
06/04/2021 18:34:00 |
Bin it and look for a known brand. As already mentioned, the metal soleplate must be earthed. |
Thread: Tailstock Die Holder (metric) |
05/04/2021 17:17:05 |
A 25mm split die would have room to be expanded in a 1" diestock. I would never use solid dies to produce threads, they are for restoring existing threads. |
