Gerald, I don't think you will do any harm to the motor by going for the 4 uF version,... Better that direction than going too small. Regards Brian Thanks Brian, I will order the 4uF one regards gerard

Thanks for all the suggestions Brian, there are no electrical wholesalers open near me ( due to Covid 19 lockdown) and no general hardware stores that are open can help at all.. Adrian, RS don't list this particular capacitor and I am not competent enough to select an equivalent Bill, your link looks good but does not post to my address. However I have found this UK Ebay seller who can post to me but only has the 2 and 4uF sizes. I am just not too sure what the effect of lower or higher values for capacitance on the motor would be. From what I have read , in general, exact values don't appear to be so important. I have ordered the Chinese capacitor but I would prefer get one faster if at all possible. thanks for all replying gerard

I need to replace the capacitor in my small hobby bench grinder. it is a CBB61 2.5uF . I have ordered from China on EBay but I would like to get one faster. A UK supplier has both 2uF or 4uF available ( but not 2.5uF). I wonder if anyone would know if either the 2uF or 4uF would be safe to use in this application..
thanks

It's almost certainly a thrush of some sort, if it isn't speckled on front then a female Blackbird (which is a type of thrush). Do female blackbirds sing? I have never heard one |
Thread: Frustration in taking photos using my Galaxy A20e mobile phone |

Many cameras and phones are configured to only take the photograph when they have achieved focus, or locked focus. This can often be difficult for phone cameras in artificial light. However this locking can often be changed in the settings of the camera phone. Mind you, you will then get many more out of focus photographs. If you can improve the light you should overcome the problem with achieving focus, even a torch will help

Thread: Which Digital Compact Camera? |

I think it must be a compact fixed lens camera I need...... It is one of those times I think yes it would be great to have a super all singing large camera & a small pocket one too, but that is not possible . Steve. Steve, I think you are really making an argument for a ILC camera system. i.e. where you can exchange the lens and give you the benefits of the larger camera when needed but can be smaller when required.. As already been mentioned, I would recommend you look at the micro 4/3 range of camera. I toured Europe by motorcycle with e Panasonic GX1 and 17mm lens in my jacket pocket all the time. Not much bigger than a packet of cigarettes . But the camera could happily take the largest lens in the micro 4/3 range if needed. I currently have the Olympus EPL8 which is only slightly bigger. There is a suggestion from some photographers that Panasonic are probably better for video but personally , for my simple needs, I have found no difference . Just be aware that photography can be as addictive as model engineering and before you know where you are you have a drawer of lenses and spare bodies , flashes adapters , sd cards etc. I can post photographs of the EPL8 but you would probably find better information on the internet |

Gerard You appear to be weighing the cup as well Why would you think I would do that? |
27/04/2020 14:03:31 |
I think that will be too little Below is 35grms of lawn food in a 60ml container and it takes up about 2/3rds so 40ml. . A table spoon is about 15 - 20 ml.and a desert spoon would be smaller.

When the dust settles, awkward questions will have to be answered, for example, why are Brits three times more likely to die than Germans? One simple reason, apparent to most, if one thinks about it carefully. Testing and number of infections cf deaths. Germany infections include other than already hospitalised patients. UK only reports those that are already poorly enough to be admitted to hospital, none of those that have the infection but are not seriously ill. Those admitted to hospital are (generally) from the older age groups - and their susceptibility to death from this virus is far higher than those younger members of the population who have shown symptoms and have been tested positive. Underlying medical conditions generally increase with age group, as well. Hence, the number comparison in the news is severely flawed. It needs rather better analysis than that applied thus far.
Actually , I think the older patients are in care homes and the stats don't count these at all. Apparently the total for these deaths is about another 40-50% of those reported for NHS hospitals |

the Kawasaki W800. Now there is an overweight, underpowered, over priced motorcycle ! Frumpy styling and dull colour schemes as well. Shame they ended up this way, was the original W650 was a lovely looking bike - a more "authetic" retro bike than the Thaiumph Bonveville of the same period. The RE is screw & locknut valve adjustment too, though not sure why that is a great selling point - shims tend to stay in tolerance longer in my experience.
Nigel B. Edited By mgnbuk on 16/04/2020 19:55:14 The W800 is neater and has a lower seat than the W650. It's power and weight are almost exactly the same as my A65 , so not really 'overweight, underpowered. ' Styling is perhaps in the eye of the beholder , to me it looks pretty good Edited By Gerard O'Toole on 23/04/2020 13:09:17 |

There is always scope to reduce weight. The Interceptor is the RE companies first effort at designing a bike from scratch ... Also expressed an interest in a BMW F800ST with the belt drive system when they were newish (early 2000s ?). I asked about the cost of replacement parts & was told a belt & both pulleys cost £700 parts only, at a time that a top quality X-ring chain & sprocket kit was around £120. My enquiry proceeded no further & I don't see many belt drive F800s around. Wonder why ? Nigel B. I have one and am generally happy. The belt was replaced by a BMW main dealer, cost €400, with a service at the same time , so I think you might have been quoted a very excessive price. I don't think the pulleys needed replacing. Have to say , I do like the look of the RE twin. I found the original 350 Bullet rather low in power and I think the later 500 was more usable on modern roads. And I am used to riding old bikes but still felt the 350 Bullet too docile. |

Thanks Thaiguzzu, Steviegtr,re. the advance retard unit My model AJS, 1964 single, rotates anticlockwise. I think earlier models rotated clockwise A little fettling and new springs, which somehow I had, has restored normal function but I will try and get a new one in the future.

Just wondering if anyone has knowledge of the Lucas advance retard units fitted to coil ignition motorcycles in the 60's? My unit, on a 1064 AJS needs a lot of repair. I cannot see a replacement for the AJS but I see units advertised as for BSA/Triumph etc. I wonder if the unit was a generic Lucas unit fitted to many bikes or of they are all slightly different?. Photos do show unit similar to mine but no dimensions are given thanks

Thread: New design of mains plug? |

I hope I am not being pedantic, but CE markings apply to EEA not just the EU However I think it is incorrect to place a CE marking on a UK plug. See here |
