The correct process is outlined in Luis Trincao's post of the 20th above and restated by Robert Walker.

If you could clarify the following questions then someone could probably provide more help

Are you following their process, i.e. opening the magazine with the alternative viewer( linked at the bottom of the page)?

When you get to the print stage , are you printing with Microsoft PDF printer?

When you get the pdf file created how are you opening it?

I have rewired the switch and fitted to the lathe and everything is working as it should.

I am trying to fit an NVR Switch ,with Emergency stop, to an older lathe. I have checked the wiring against diagram and against other advice here and elsewhere on the internet and i believe i have the switch wired correctly.

However the switch does not 'latch on' ( if that is the correct term ). i am actually testing with a 220v lamp and when i press the 'on button' the lamp will light but goes out as soon as I take my finger off the 'on button'.

I suspect it is faulty but wanted to check if I have wired it incorrectly.. There is a small fifth terminal on the NVR switch which is not connected and i wonder if that is the problem..

Any help would be much appreciated. The photograph shows the wiring

The NVR switch is marked CK21 .

I have tried in both edge and Chrome on a Windows 10 laptop. tried editions 298 to 303 .

I could print no inside pages on from any magazine. I could print the cover from Magazine 299 ( but no other page)

( in contrast, i could print all pages from Real Classic, a motorcycle magazine)

So it appears that it is not fixed yet.

i have two replies one each from Pocketmags and [email protected].

Pocketmags say

"Currently the printing problem is being sorted with the publishers, there was a reader update but the publishers PDF was not updated in accordance with the changes we had explained to them. This is with our technical team getting fixed currently."

And this reply from [email protected].

"I'm sorry to have to advise that the printing facility is no longer available,"

i also read the "Real Classic" motorcycle magazine on Pocketmags and the printing is working fine with that magazine.

Would be great to get this working again as I had hoped to print the inserted tables in the centre pages of the more recent editions.

I agree Paul. However the reply I got from Pocketmags puts the blame with the Publishers. I quote

I can print from other magazines, eg. Real Classic motorcycle magazine. The problem seems to be limited to the Model Engineer magazines. I have emailed to the subscription help but no reply as yet.

But you are right, everyone affected needs to email Pocketmags to start the ball rolling.

I wonder of there is any update from the Publishers here about giving permission to print on Pocketmags?

Pocketmags say they still awaiting permission from the Publishers to allow printing. I am keen to print the centre pages of my digital magazines, i.e. the four pages of data tables currently in each issue.

I have emailed to help at subscription help and , while i got an acknowledgement, I have gotten no reply to date.

Any update would be nice.

I have similar lathe . i have never tried to cut imperial threads on it but i did work out the pitch the lathe actually creates for the settings in the thread cutting table. ( using maths rather than practical engineering).

A 11TPi should have a pitch of 2.309mm . In fact the lathe, with the gears suggested by the table( A= 72, B=H, C=50, D= 60, E= H, F=52), creates a pitch of 2.585 mm and that equates to 9.8 TPI.

I have never tried to work out the gears needed , nor am i sure they are supplied, but , if your lathe is the same as mine, then the thread cutting table is a little inaccurate for imperial size threads..

I Think Pirzig addresses that in the very first page of the introduction/preface when he writes

"it should in no way be associated with that great body of factual information relating to orthodox Zen Buddhist practice. It's not very factual on motorcycles, either"

Agree Tim, converting to 12V might be a good idea. It certainly makes finding bulbs etc easier. Having said that, I have two motorcycles with 6V electrics ( one a Lucas dynamo the other a Miller dynamo) and they both work ok. But i don't generally use at night and they have very simple electrical circuits, simple lights and horn. No indicators , no ignition etc.

If you do move to 12 V then you should be able to source a suitable voltage regulator/rectifier. Originally , Zenor diodes , as supplied by Lucas, were only available for Positive earth systems . No sure what is available now but the combined regulator/rectifier seems to be the recommended way to go. I have fitted one to a 12V motorcycle and it all works quite well.and has done for over 10 years

I think your electrics are performing as designed. I remember the flashers flashing slower at tick-over if the battery wasn't great.

The fact they are working with a full battery would suggest you don't have ant earth problems either. Although i always run extra earth wires from the rear lights and headlamp shell.

Fitting led lights will affect the balance of the circuit and might result in an overcharge battery. Fitting a modern regulator would sort that. They are available for lucas 6v systems - i am not too sure for Japanese electrics.

Up to now, I have always read the magazine directly from the tis site as i couldn't get Pocketmags to accept my code. i have now managed that but I am getting the same error as you when trying to print.

Is there a way of printing directly from the magazine on this site?

Additionally, I noticed that I cannot get access to my full list of subscribed editions, only the current one, on Pocketmags. Is that the way it should work?

I think Mitutoyo could afford to take clear, high resolution photographs

the correct spanners are available from the usual auctions sites and are not expensive.
