I have managed to create an album with the pinion comparison photo but I think that you need to be running a pc or mac to post it. I have only got Android now and the camera icon does not show. Is it possible to post pictures using Android ? |

I did say in my reply to Reeves that I accepted their response. It was as I anticipated and above board and as you so rightly say I should have inspected the parts when I received them. And I cannot expect them to trust my integrity. But as I have another 20 years (hopefully!!) or so of model engineering ahead of me I know where I won't be sourcing parts again. Mark |

Ahh.... so I am not the only one who has received duff gears from Reeves. But at least they offered to replace yours Jon. I bought a worm and pinion for a Minnie traction engine from them a few years ago. I have only recently started on the Minnie again and when I made the steering parts it became apparent that there was no way it was going to work due to the worm pinion having completely different size teeth on one side of the pinion compared to the other. Reeves sell the worm and pinion for ?68 so they are not cheap. . Unfortunately as I have not got the purchase receipt anymore Reeves said " we have sold 100s of these over the last 10 years without a problem " and they won't entertain a replacement or refund. I have fond the worm and pinion for about ?27 from HPC gears and even though their postage is expensive they still work out at ?44 delivered. Which is considerably cheaper than Reeves. (I would post a photo but I am very new to this forum thing and I cannot see how to) Mark. |
