Has anyone got a link for an on/off switch for a small lathe, with single phase electric motor

Im going to build a work bench to mount my ml2 lathe, what is a comfortable working height, for working on a lathe

I know the gears from myfords ml7 and ml10 will fit the ml2 which has a 5/8th diameter drive hole, so does that mean any gears with a centre hole of 5/8th diameter will be ok

Ive decided to go with a single phase 1/4hp or 1/3hp and work on max revs of 1000rpm any recommendations for suppliers for motors

Does any one know the maximum speed you could run a ml2 without damaging bearings, does a vfd allow you to adjust the rpm

The centre height is 3-1/8in and what does a VHD cost

After a little research I think my lathe is an ml2 and not a ml4 as it is 15ins between centres, any way the motor I got with it is a non runner, what motor would people recommend, 1/4hp or 1/3hp single phase or three phase

Im new to machining and looking for a tool holder that may suit my needs , I may have a go at making one but until I have all the tools and equipment to do so it is a non starter

The diamond tool holders are a bit pricey for what I want

Are there any sellers out there who sell 6mm hss tool bit holders ,with a small shank suitable for a small lathe

The lathe has a 7/8in thread on the spindle, im a novice when it comes to machining so anything to technical will be a no go until I get a little more experience

I have just purchased my first lathe and after reading this post making your own tools where is the best place to purchase hss blanks and also what are the hardest materials you can machine with these blanks if ground correctly
