Got a 3/16th key for the shreline head stock. Sherline stated 3/16th but this is too big.

Timing belt for spindle just arrived, fitted this morning.

Someone has asked how I did the lettering in yellow. This is simply kitchen towel, rolled up, tapped and a flat pushed on it. Sooooooo easy. Needs about 3 coatings.

Shims cut for bottom saddle all from 0.02mm brass.

Waiting for saddle to come back. Not sure how many I will need. Easily cut with a shard blade.

Not sure of the width, I will wait for the saddle to come back before I cut.

After a lot of research I have come up with a cost effective a belt for the for the cutter. This works with the existing Sherline pulley. 4 MM Green Polyurethane Round drive belting

This comes in open strips and is welded with a small amount of heat. Done test and the joint is very strong.

A little late in the day, but I have had to get the bottom saddle ground. As the main bed was re ground it has dropped the saddle with respect to the under side of the bed. Due to this when you clamp up the bottom plate onto the saddle there is movement between the saddle and bed. I am also going to rind the saddle face that moves on the bed.

I have over ground the sable and will set up with some 0.02mm shim.

This has been a long research and strange conclusion.

As the MT 1 taper cutter holder is going to be vertical, I wanted a nut that will hold the cutter shaft in place. The cutter shaft is being machined from an existing MT1 taper avaliable on the internet.

I need a nut to thread on the end of the sherline head stock that would hold the shaft, my extensive research found nothing.

I went into my garage and looked through my plumbing fittings and found that a 15mm compression fitting fitted the head stock!!

Looked at you profile. We come from similar background on engineering,but mine is electronic.

HMI now fitted

As you will see from the attached, I am an electrical engineer, but the drawings work. This is the main spindle cutter plate. I have also got a few other bits comming.

Still about 100 hours of work before I cut gears.

Just sent drawings off to have spindle plate made. Made proto type in wood. Did not put slots in proto type as did not save the machine. Have to wait a week or so for the machine shop. 3 days design to make sure it was right!. Keeping fingers crossed. slots are for motor to tension belt.

Starting to look more like a lathe.

I have posts on here of my renovation, there is no need to remove primer. Just get fime grit paper and sand down and then re prime. I used red oxide and it worked really well.

All but the cabinet I hand painted, see the results, it worked really well.

It will be very difficult to turn upside down.

When I was cleaning the base up, I realised the top slides vertically off, hence the small bolts in each corner. There are heavy plates under the plate steel top for stability.

In my opinion you have to know when to stop, after all this is a Myford 7 and always will be.

I have taked many photos whilst carrying out the renervation, a lot of these are in my album, I have many more if you have a particular area of interest. Unfortunately I do not have a photo with the top plate removed.

I still think I have about 200 hours to completely finish the project and complete all the software.
