Try a D20. This will supply a higher inrush current. |

Emgee the foot bar with an estop is still fitted to the machine so can be hit from anywhere in front of the machine. |

Some photos will help to see whats going on. So the lathe start stop is still operated by the sliding lever on the front of the lathe which operates the built in contactor? Looks like the Clarke inverter does not have any interface for controls at all and just outputs straight power allowing for a contactor to be placed between the inverter and the motor. If this is the case then you could replace the cover and foot pedal switches and an estop switch in the supply line to the contactor but its a bit rough and ready and wouldn't be my preferred option. If your going to keep the lathe it might be worth while changing the motor to a 3 phase 230v and getting a single to three phase vfd to run it. Then you could refit the switches and add any other controls you like in circuit. This is what I did to mine as the original wiring was crap. I now have all controls in one place. |

Henry, yes the ballasts were removed. The lamps just needed the supply connected to one end so it made fitting a bit easier as well. Starter not required either. |

Not good that you've had to send it back but at least Warco customer service has sorted out a refund for you. Cant you fit in something a bit bigger like a Colchester Bantam size? |

Finally got round to upgrading the lighting in the shop. All 8 4ft fittings now have 22w daylight led tubes, much better than the old standard tubes. |

Last job for me this year was to fit the dro to my lathe. Bought the M-DRO kit for the Bantam. This should have been done earlier but I`ve had the flu since just before xmas so it got put back a bit but its all fitted now. Decided to get the first one of the wheels for my belt linisher build done before calling it a night.

You could try burners gloves, they give more protection than welders gloves but tend to be mitt type. |

The pushbuttons for control would be momentary. Section12.2 of the manual has the info for it. |

Was thinking rotabroach but it wont cut through 65mm thick unless I started smaller and went up in diameters to make a pocket and then cut through with a second pass. Finish off with a boring head. |

The float lock is an adjustable position vise used on drill tables. It normally has a clamp which fits to the edge of the drill table and the round sliding bar of the vise goes through it. The vise can then be positioned anywhere on the table and locked in place. A search on google will bring up a full picture which will give idea than my description. Tubal Cain has an excellent video on them. |

Decided I needed a few more clamps so went along the lines of the Float Lock vice idea. |

Thanks Jason. You produce some very fine work and its great to have you help us out and share some knowledge. A ball turner has been on my list of things to make but now that I see what your doing with it Ill have to bump it up the list a bit. Maybe just after the belt sander project that's just about to start. Whats the one in the picture for? |

On a side note we have odoriser in our oxygen tank supplies and it affects the quality of the cut on our plasma machines. Run the machine off a HP bottle bank and the cut quality is lovely. |
28/11/2019 08:58:07 |
Not sure that the odoriser would be the issue. I did have a space heater in the shop at one time before I got my multifuel stove and I hated it. Got same sore heads sometimes as well and have no idea what caused them. We have bigger space heaters at work but in hugely larger buildings and I don't get any issues working next to them. Maybe they just suck up all the oxy in smaller spaces. |

Yes ive got a four jaw. Tried this as well for flat bar and still didn't turn out great. Do you normally make them from flat bar or round stock or does it just depend on whats to hand?
|
27/11/2019 20:10:24 |
Jason I am trying to find the easiest/best way to make them. I have tried a couple of different ways on the lathe and made a holder for the chuck which will take flat bar. Also tried from round bar which gave better results and was easier to turn. Finished off the round ends on the mill and rotary table. |

I have a Huanyang vfd as well. Still going after about 5 years. Also have a couple of Mitsubishi ones as well, far better but 3 times the cost. |
