Hi, My Harrison 155 is a metric lathe with a 6mm pitch lead screw. The manual says that to cut imperial thread I need: Top shaft. 30t Intermediate shaft 120-127 Bottom shaft 60t I have all the gears (30t, 120t & 60t) bar the 127t. I can’t find/get a 127t change gear, if I used a 126t gear which I can get would the error be too great for thread cutting? Any help/advice appreciated Ray

Thanks for the welcome to everyone. In answer to David I’m in the UK, mid west Wales. I try to make my own stuff as and when needed, special one offs to aid in completing a job of mine or other bits and pieces for friends etc, mainly for old bikes at the moment as well as bits so I can cut key ways on the Shaper etc. I have an old TVR Cerbera which also keeps me and my machines busy lol. Just love machining and the satisfaction of the finished product as much as my spare time allows. Certainly no expert but learning, improving and enjoying

Thread: How effective are phase converters |

I run a SMP Digi phase 7.5 hp rotary converter, can run as many machines together as I wish plus welder. It is enclosed in its own unit so in my opinion quiet enough and not at all intrusive. Only drawback is initial cost, otherwise very happy with it, run a ring main and draw off as many machines as you want within its capacity, simples! |

hi to everyone and happy new year. I am what you would call a hobby machinist and potter around making and fixing things, mostly for myself. I have a Harrison 155 lathe and a boxford Shaper which I love to use, it soothes away the worries with its calming no rush milling action. Looking forward to learning and hopefully contributing something useful.
