Sorry, but what are monkey blocks?

I have rehaired a few bows and recambered one using dry heat. I almost bought a good quality carbon bow once and had it on loan for a few weeks. Played really nice but I bought the other one I had to try out. A pernambuco from a local maker. Bows really make a difference in how my bass sounds!

I play German style and for some reason these are usually made with plain mother of pearl instead of abelone. A real pity as I love the look of French bows.

I'm a radiation protection expert myself and probably owe my job to this accident. I started my job in the early 90s and a lot of funding was available for education and training in the radiation sector, after many lean years. My compliments for how this issue is discussed in this thread. A few details:

plutonium is also very toxic, as are uranium isotopes. For some of the isotopes the chemical toxicity is more harmful than the radiotoxicity.

The long lived contamination of Europe is caused by cesium-137 which has a half life of 30 years. If the half life was much longer it would be less radioactive.

The main problem directly after the accident was deposit of iodine-131 which has a half life of 8 days. There was a significant increase of thyroid cancer in Russian children 10 years after the disaster.

This is probably the power needed in the living room for reproduction of the music? For stage performance we need a bit more power to fill a hall satisfactory. But I'm always surprised what I can manage with my double bass unamplified. As long as I play indoors....

Thumb red and blue? By mistreatment of the thumb or from marking ink?

Interesting possibility. But if you zoom in on the picture and look at the spur wheel I think the quality is immediately apparent. But this might be a by QC rejected part which ended up as a photo model?

Doesn't need a lot of machining.

You can use a mechanical connection followed by soft soldering the result can be quite unvisible is the connection is placed in the right place.

Maybe a ceramic bearing instead of metal. The white ceramic could be easily mistaken for plastic.

What made the lead screws different in dimensions? Also heat treatment after thread cutting?

Were do you live? And what do you need? For hot rolled steel I go to Hardeman in Veenendaal and for brass, free cutting steel and aluminium I go to the Locloods in Molenhoek.

I live in Nijmegen myself.
