Many thanks to all, the review was quite interesting, the thing I like about it is that you can have a R8 chuck at no extra cost and as I am picking up by reading comments it is the way forward, as I am only thinking of doing small ali stuff for airguns it would seem sufficient for my needs and I also have a vertical slide on my ML7 as back up. Cheers Martin |

Can anyone give a recommendation for a SPG 9512B milling machine with a R8 chuck please. cheers Martin |

In the right hands the Myford should do as good or better job than the small mills, Only yesterday I was looking at the website of a guy who built a Bently BR2 radial just on his myford. A mill will likely make it easier and quicker. There was a recent thread on R8 vs MT best look at that rather than fill another thread with the same answers. Thanks Jason, I thought R8 was the way forward Martin |

Hi, I’m looking to buy a mill I am new to this game so would appreciate any advice it would be used mainly on ali making bits for air guns so nothing to heavy, the ones I am looking at are a SPG 9512Bc at £535 (the best one on paper to me with a R8 or MT3 another question), Warco WM 12 at £685, Chester Conquest Super Mill at £525 and finally a machine mart Clarke CMD300 at £549 on a vat free day, I have a ML7 (thanks Ian everything is working spot on) with a vertical slide should I just stick with that and if possible buy a collet set for it or a DRO as it's the depth I have trouble with, many thanks in anticipation, or has any one got a second hand one as they seem to be like rocking horse poo.
Cheers

Or if you want to hang onto your hard earned, one of these...**LINK**
Ooh, might have to get one of those myself! Ta Yep these are the business -- I bought a mega expensive one from original Myford and it lubricates me more than the machine -- since then a Press parts one and its a revelation no contest in my book !
Me to I used to buy parts for printing machines off them, I found the pump looking for a Heidelberg one as I used them many years ago. |

Many thanks, RDG call it a Dixon but I assume it is the same, as to cutting tools etc. I don't even have a lathe or any idea what I'm doing with it yet a complete novice unless you call using one at school and I left there in 72 so I set for many hours of frustration and joy to come. Cheers Martin |

Thread: Warco or Hobbymat MD65 |
27/09/2017 17:43:05 |
Hi Brian, Yes that was one of the other factors over the Warco 150 was metal gears, larger chuck and motor all for an extra £100 and I would assume you would get that back if you ever sold it. Cheers Martin P.s. not knowing anything about lathes I thought a modern mini lathe would be easer to get parts etc. for |
27/09/2017 07:34:24 |
Morning Rodger, It would be bits for my airguns but I think you have answered my question with the 12mm bore as most barrels are 12 -16 mm Regards Martin.

As the title says should I hold out for a secondhand Warco super mini (the new one) or go for a Hobbymat MD65 with some tools I have also seen you can get a milling head for the hobbymat, so I ask advice from my peers as I know nothing about either. Thanks in advance Martin |

Cheers Dave, Ideally I would like to buy by the sounds of it a second hand warco super mini lathe (brushless motor, longer bed etc.) with a few bits and a small second hand milling machine for sub £800 is this possible Cheers Martin |
26/09/2017 19:36:00 |
Many Thanks Richard most of what you have said has gone way over my head but I understand the gist of it, a big NO NO in caps. Cheers Martin |
26/09/2017 18:48:31 |
I take it it's a big NO NO then anybody got a cheap little mill they want to sell. Cheers Martin |

I think your right about Warco they get good reviews and I was looking at the super mini (the new one) because I can't think of anything bigger than that I would need to turn so with the £200 odd I would save buy some bits or ideally buy second hand with all the bits so if you know of a good second hand one give me a shout please. Cheers Martin |

Hi Dave, I was thinking of making bits for my air guns so it will be mainly ali or brass nothing to technical I was looking at warco/chester as I don't need anything to heavy, hope that helps a bit. Martin |
