Thread: Boxford AUD clutch

Yes, I considered a sewing machine motor but I'm not sure what hp they are and my motor is 3 phase with an inverter. As I have an inverter I don't need the step pulley on the countershaft so could possibly squeeze a jap bike clutch in there. It's just a thought. I've used it for 40 years without! Somebody will have done it!

Has anyone retrofitted a clutch to a Boxford AUD. Never really felt the need for one but I'm sure somebody has done this.

Don’t you wish all vices used hex bolts from the rear of the jaws? I bet they come out easily.

Mike

My Fortis steel vice does.

I have no sympathy for the members of the generation that buys take-away coffee fashionable smartphones, booze cruises and foreign stag-dos and spends £20K on a wedding or changes their car every 3 yrs or 'have it large' in clubs, sports matches, concerts etc

I was the generation that went thrugh gazumping, buying a small house I could just afford and spent the next years after work (and I often finished after 9pm) up ladders wire-brushing cast iron guttering and digging out wood-rot 'cos i couldn't afford to change it. This was also the generation that lived through 15%+ mortgages, used my annual holiday to do locum work so i could afford second hand appliances...

Yes, we had it so easy!!

There never was a sugar shortage. It was created to increase the price, just like several other, so called, shortages. Whilst you couldn't get it in the shops hauliers were moving tons of it into storage. My father was a lorry driver and bringing cwt bags of it home. There as no shortage in our village, only in the shop!

Never underestimate those old Engineers. They might not have had an electronic calculator but they knew how to use a slide rule - which I never did master.
