Thread: Leblond Regal 10" drive motor replacement |
27/04/2022 14:12:26 |
I agree with Ady1's comments the motor needs to be at least 1hp. The 12" came with a 2hp motor from what I can deduce. That motor is way to small for that lathe. You can contact Leblond for any info on your lathe Leblond queries. regards |

Hi Brian Current project trying to make a Boxford BUD metric lead screw to fit to my Boxford Lathe which will be followed by a set of half nuts and thread dial indicator. Welcome to the forum. That is quite an undertaking. The leadscrew is over a meter long do you have a larger lathe to make it on or are you going to do it in sections ? If you need it just for metric threads it would be easier to either obtain or make the conversion compound gears 127/100. If you are going for a full metric lathe, apart from the parts you mention in your other thread you will need new dials , crossfeed leadscrew & compound leadcrew. You will also need a mill to put in the full length keyway and a way to straighten the lead screw afterwards as it will probably bend like a banana when the key is cut. I have had several Imperial Boxfords but am not sure if the change gears have the same pitch/mod as the metric version. Good luck I hope it works out ok. regards |

Thanks for the links to both magazines.... amazing content. The first PM of 1933 has many, many very interesting articles, and little 'white space' (unlike the current BBC Sports website, say! Ches
I found the "how to stimulate the eye with a spark" a bit frightening. Some very interesting Ads to browse through in these old publications. regards |

Also slightly off-topic The shop I used to buy hardware fittings from would sell you a 'pair of hinges' if you wanted 2 and 'one and a half pair' if you wanted 3, I don't know if that was a normal ironmongers expression or not. John I remember reading many years ago an old woodworking magazine where it stated "use 1-1/2 pairs for heavy doors. Cannot remember the magazine name but always remembered that quote. regards |

Mild steel should be more than adequate. Draw bars do not need to be tightened too much. Both my mills have mild steel draw bars in metric & imperial and never had a problem. None of them are hardened. regards |

You get more choice of mixer taps that work. You only heat what water you need You, um, er, give me time now ........ You need a bigger gas feed right back to the meter You get enough hot to feed one tap only. <<<<<<<<<<<<<< You get a condensate drain that freezes if the outside temp is lower than -8C for more than a day and stops the boiler. Particular fun when the boiler is in the roof space so that freezes as well <<<<<<<<< Dave Your last 2 points may possibly be true in a very few cases. I have had a 42Kw combi boiler in my loft for the last 10 or so years and have never had a shortage of water. It easily feeds 2 taps or shower & tap or 2 showers at the same time. All that happens is you get a very slightly lower flow rate which is barely noticable. We dont bother about people turning on a tap or flushing the toilet when in the shower, unlike when we had a non pressured system and had to tell everyone "dont turn a tap on" I am going in the shower. Never had the condensate which is on a north facing wall freeze to a point where it stops the boiler. I live in the East Midlands so we get our fair shair of freezing days & nights. I would go for a Combi over a non pressured system every time. regards

As far as I am concerned these "lazy so& so's" are paid to ring the bell & deliver the package. They take on the job so make a contract to do just that. Its a pity the wages are so low but they still get paid to deliver the package not leave it in plain site of the road for all & sundry to see with no attempt made to ring or knock the door. That gives opportunity to the doorstep thieves. Then all we land up paying more for items. regards |

I had an Amazon parcel "delivered", "handed to resident" late one evening. Not true, stuffed under a 5 bar gate that leds to my garage, no attempt to go anywhere near the front door. Amazon have now altered my delivery instructions that any parcel must be handed to me personally. Edited By KWIL on 16/03/2022 10:57:10 We have had the same thing happen to us several times. Amazon has notes on our account that parcels must not be left on doorstep as the house is open to the road. We sent them pictures from our security cams and they said it would be sorted. Now been going on for 2 years with their Hermes deliveries. Only 2 weeks ago another parcel left on the step. I actually confronted the driver as I was in and saw him approach the house leave the parcel without ringing the doorbell. All I got was a shrug and he turned round and walked off. As far as I am concerned these drivers are just a lot of lazy so & so's. regards |

Been with Virgin media 200Mbps Broadband and 2 mobile phones a couple of years now with no problems. Cable comes straight into the house. Still cheaper than BT 50Mbps b/b & home phone was when we changed supplier. Had the cable in the road broken by the gas board 6 months ago and Virgin came out and fixed in 4 hours. 200Mbps connection showing 223/24 at this moment. Phone is VOIP so BT line to pay. regards |

once you have the cylinder you just swap it with the size you prefer at your local calor dealer.
Check first - my local Calor dealer will only replace with the same size cylinder. Edited By Bob Unitt 1 on 10/03/2022 09:56:24 Agreed. All Calor resellers have to abide by Calor's ruling that they can only accept like for like exchanges. regards |

I always carry one as a backup in the caravan. I have all the accessories for them.Burner ring, Grill, Light & blowtorch. regards |
