Thread: Warco GH1236 vs Chester Crusader |

Hi Otley, Next time round,I think I might visit Warco too, seem to be a good place to deal with. |

Peter, sorry about this, but I have just found your picture of Never Seize !! You know what they say about OLD AGE ? Thanks again. |
15/10/2017 11:31:10 |
Thanks Peter for your reply. I was unable to open your pictures, but I came across stuff yesterday which I think is much the same as your Never Seize. I will get a can of it,while also making an Ali clamp. |

I too had this problem some years ago,but I managed to break a gear in the process. With this in mind,I would be very interested in that product called "Never Seize". Who makes it,who sells it ? I think that Ali clamp is a good idea, will make one up soon [before I break another gear !! ] The sheer hassle of replacing it !! |
Thread: What Did You Do Today (2017) |

Perhaps a bit late in day,but I made up a lifting hoist, based on Dave Fenners. I had to make a few mods, since the ideal material was not available, but it works. When I paint it,I will send a photo,if anyone is interested. I think it,s the kind of thing which others might find useful in their workshops,if their backs are anything like mine ! |
Thread: Starter Switch |
10/10/2017 18:11:34 |
I did this years ago, with a bandsaw, which I converted to 3 phase. The starters are much the same,a 3 phase switch will handle single phase,no problem, just need to change the coil, and rewire as Brian say,s. Works a treat !! |

You dont ! You just look at it ! |

Thanks John, Will check them out. |

Dont think I,ll be at that show,it,s a bit far away from me. I just thought a few others might have recognised that holder,so I put two more pictures in my album. I hope these are more in focus. |

Hi, Does anyone know where I can get tips for my parting tool holder? I can find no name on the holder,so I dont know what make it is,but I have put a picture of it in my album. Any ideas? Thanks. |

Martin beware !! You are falling down a hole and it,s a very difficult one to get out of. I speak from experience !! On the other hand,I suppose I dont really try too hard,it,s OK down here. Enjoy ! |

A rotary mower? Yes,I know all about that one !! Been there, done that ! |
Thread: Eccentricity / Run-Out |

Five years from a Miele would not impress me very much. My Whirlpool is 15 years young and I still get annoyed when it makes noises. It did act up a while ago but I gave it a few thumps and it settled down again. I expect at least another 10 years from it. |
Thread: Swarf Trivia |
27/09/2017 12:49:02 |
Should be able to get steel swarf easy enough, but copper swarf, now that,s a different matter ! Copper has a value, even as swarf.,no one dumps it out. |
Thread: Colchester student lathe |
27/09/2017 12:33:50 |
For what it,s worth, I had a similar problem with a static converter which would run my lathe,mill,bandsaw,1.5 hp motors each, but would not even start my planer or spindle moulder 4hp motors each. Enter a 10hp rotary converter, end of story ! I recon your converter is just too small, size matters ! |
Thread: Dog poo problem |

Something wrong if a two year old dog has that problem, that should have stopped after a few months. You need to get him to the vet. |
Thread: a rat in the house! |
26/09/2017 16:59:51 |
Rats took a fancy to the wiring in the machine shop in my last job and stripped the wires clean ! Result,an Almighty bang one morning and the whole place stopped . Took them weeks to replace the lot with different cable.Cables seem to attract them for some reason, although I dont have rat problems [I have two hunting dogs ] but I do have mice in my workshop and can,t get rid of them. The dogs seem to think mice are beneath them. So traps. |
Thread: Tools mill |
24/09/2017 11:40:18 |
I have a Lux mill and I managed to lift it onto my home made stand using an engine garage crane, without taking it apart. I think my machine is about the same size as yours. Either that or a chain hoist. |
Thread: Old but not yet cold. |

Hi Pierre, I tried to retire several times, never really got it to work,so I gave it up and just had a "change of direction",it worked ! Now is the time to do what you want to do, good luck ! have fun. |
