Just an update to finish.... I've found a manual for the Rishton mill so answered my own question about the model number. It's a VM602 and seems there's another with shorter table called VM452.

Thread: What Makes a Good Photo for Model Engineers' Workshop |

If using a phone for photos, most of them have a function that you can touch the screen on the exact spot that's most important part of the photo, then it will focus and meter the light on that spot. This is important if you have, say, a very dark or light background, you don't want the camera taking an average meter reading of the whole scene. Then the important bit ends up too bright or too dark. It's similar to using a camera where you can hold the shutter release button halfway to meter and focus on the spot, and then move the camera if necessary to frame the shot, before fully pressing the shutter. |

I can see the connection to Conect. We had new Conect machines around 1994; a lathe and mill and they came from the same supplier. I know the Conect lathe was similar to a ML10. We sold the lathe off, but a few years ago I retro fitted the mill with new boards from Conquerer EasiCNC. I'd be interested to read a little more about the same or other retrofits to the Conect. I dabbled with it around 2011 but but never really gave it much more work to do. One of things I just kept on the back burner.

Here's two machines in my work that I'm curious about. The first one I know is basically a ML10 or speed ten, but I've just never seen or read about this "euro-ten". It was made 1996. It was supplied with a speed ten manual from new. I'm guessing it's just modified and rebadged for school use, with switches on the lid, chuck guard and carriage stop. Just curious if anyone else has seen one before? Next up is the little Rishton mill, with twin columns, 415v. Made in 1997. Anyone know a model number, so I can find out a little more?( Sorry pic is rotated, I'm not sure why). |

Thread: Hi there |

Hi, I'm from N.Ireland. Been lurking a while and now signed up. My background is some machine shop and fitting experience when I was younger and then I've been teaching D&T to 11-18 year olds for 20 odd years. My particular interest is machining metals but I probably work more with wood and plastics day to day. Also Solidworks, 3D printing, etc. Not really into model trains but interested in engines in particular although I've only ever built an oscillating engine running on air. I have my own Myford Super 7 at home and use a Harrison M250 at work. Would fancy building a model IC engine at some point in the future. Other interests are beekeeping and motorcycles.

Thread: Myford ML7 and S7 bed question |

Hi, this is probably an obvious answer but I really can't find out for sure, despite searching. Can anyone tell me if a ML7 bed will fit a Super 7? I'm talking standard length beds, grey, late 60's. Are they a straight swap?
Thanks
