Thread: Anyone made Myfordboy's powered hacksaw? |

Thanks IRT. I've found it in a few online metal stores as "0.710″ A/F BRIGHT MILD STEEL HEXAGON". I'm based in Athens, Greece and sadly none of them post overseas. I'll have to check the drawings and see if 17 or 19mm is possible. Thanks. |

Hi IRT. Have you used 18mm AF hex bar as per the drawings?

Check out page #3 from the DW working instructions and sheet 3 from the drawings. Compare the measurements and you may be able to find out what's happening over there. You can find the MK1 instructions and plans from Tony @lathes.co.uk or download them for free from the Dore Westbury yahoo group. Look at the file section for the MK1 manual and VM drawings. |

When you reply in a message, there is a palette of options on the top. You just have to choose the "image" icon, it's in the top row, third from the end. Insert the link and here you go... P.s It looks to be a very nice Mark1 model... I love the handwheels, I dare to say, they look way better than the stock ones!

Canyon Wren, when you do repair your gearbox housing, please let us know. Also a couple photos of your DW would be nice. Even though it now seems like a piece of machine history, it's still a very versatile and capable miller. Good luck having it up and running soon. |

Tony Pratt, here are the images in the order Canyon Wren posted them. You don't need a photobucket account, it was just the links that were not correctly inserted in the post.

Hi. I'm an owner of a Dore Westbury miller as well though I'm sorry to say not an experienced one -at least not yet-, so I can't answer your questions in detail. It seems like yours is a MK1 model and I just had a look at the building instructions and the bushings are just referred to as "porous bronze bushes".
P.s May I suggest that you visit the yahoo dore westbury group where you can find plans and info on these versatile millers. |

Application of a Moto Guzzi tyre lever, to shift the belt ? MichaelG.
Check out the RH side of the milling table, where the X handwheel bolts on. The t-slot is very close to the edge, meaning that for some reason, part of the milling table was removed. |

This beats your original post AJohnW. See **LINK**
I was about to post the same link... the chance that this DW will sell, seems to be the same as castings will be offered again. On the other hand, the Dore Westbury is a very nice and versatile machine and I feel it's underestimated by many people. Even if the price gets close to a brand new far eastern miller, I believe that it's still in a reasonable price range. Many people have upgraded to bigger milling machines and report that the little DW still has it's place and uses in the workshop and I'm afraid this doesn't count for the modern small millers out there.
