I've found that default layer heights used by slicer programs are very much a compromise between surface quality and print time. If surface finish is critical, try half the layer height but be prepared to wait a long while! Also, it's worth ensuring that the layer height used equates to a whole number of motor steps. Otherwise it plays catch-up every so often and you get a thicker layer. |

Weekly visit to local hostelry left bad taste. Two pints of beer, (one lager and one pale) £8.10, same drinks but two halves £4.75 ????? At risk of getting myself a few rockets in difficult places, I'm not sure I see the problem. There are any number of things I buy that are relatively cheaper when purchased in quantity. The simplest explanation in this case (for pricing purposes) is that the total price is the beer cost plus service charge. The beer is charged pro-rata but the service charge is constant no matter what the size of the beer. |

Sadly, it and it's predecessors just don't want to keep up with the modern world - which is to say that fairly shortly after a new battery is installed (say 2 - 3 months) it starts to slow down. This seems to happen consistently - I'm on my 3rd clock now and have run through many
Easy on the eyes - 4'' display - and corrects for DST as appropriate. Also gives temperature and humidity which can be handy in the workshop. Didn't cost an arm or leg (or both) either. Afterthought: if you don't like digital clocks there are, of course LCD "analogue" clocks which should also give long battery life.

What do you think of this: Your $20.00 Undocumented Claim in the Canadian Optical Disc Drives class action is approved. ... Strong smell of fish, even on this side of the Atlantic! You would think so wouldn't you ... and yet it's quite legitimate. I have several $20 deposits to my bank account to test it. The only information I gave them was an email address (created for the occasion from my domain and disposable within 10 sec) and I may have given them an address at some point - but that's hardly secure information. I (of course) gave out no bank details - not even the name of my bank. The whole thing is handled via Interac and thence to my bank. The first time I got one of these I felt sure it was a scam. I just went looking to find out more about it. Since they just wanted an email address I created one for them to see what would happen. |

Gerry, what's missing for me is knowing what program you were using when you saved the file(s). I don't see how your questions can be answered without that information. |

What do you think of this: Your $20.00 Undocumented Claim in the Canadian Optical Disc Drives class action is approved. This is an advance notification that your payment will be issued via Interac e-Transfer very shortly. The Sender of the Interac e-Transfer will be either: (1) Optical Disc Drives Settlement, or (2) Computershare Trust Company. If you do not have auto deposit set up with your financial institution, you will require a security answer to complete the Interac e-Transfer transaction. Please see www.oddclassaction.com for more information. Sincerely, Edited By Peter Greene 🇨🇦 on 01/07/2023 17:47:18 |

Reading this, I just wondered if the question is "correct "- it seems from Robs initial post that he is fed up with Hotmail as his email provider, and is looking to get a new e-mail address (or have I got it wrong?).
Well, he did say " Please can anyone offer advice on how to obtain a personal internet domain name" |

Andy, FWIW, Camden says this in its notes: "Clicking on the icon ʻindex.htmlʼ should open the book in your browser complete with control You didn't mention a "control panel at the bottom" does that mean you don't see one. Can you "open the folder called 'inc' on your tablet? |

You need to register a name through the domain registrar in your country (or elsewhere). Then you need to "park" that domain somewhere which will host it and make it "live" on the internet. I use EasyDNS but there are many others. The host will usually handle the domain registration for you too if you want. The domain reg costs an annual fee. Some hosts will do basic other stuff for nothing. The host will then let you create email addresses from your domain and forward them to wherever. They will also let you block some if you want. For example if my domain is mydom.ca, I have it set up so that anything coming in to [email protected] gets forwarded to my local isp. If one particular address (say [email protected]) has fallen into the hands of a spammer, I can set the host to trash anything to that address without passing it on. I can also set other specific forms of the address to go elsewhere (family members etc). Note that if you route something from your personal domain through Gmail (and, I suspect, others; more as time goes on) you will have to make sure its set up properly ... particularly DKIM, SPF, DMARC records ... at the host. (I don't really understand them either. I stumbled through mine with a lot of help from EasyDNS). They help to prevent the nefarious from spoofing your address. There is a big push on email spam detection/prevention these days).

index.html should just be an entry point to the book formulated as a website, to open it in the browser. What happens if you click on the book title? Do you have a <next> arrow anywhere? (I hate Android with a vengeance and don't use it, so I'm not really familiar with any quirks that it has.) |

I am with you Peter being hard of hearing even the wife get fed up with repeating herself, let alone people on the other end of the telephone.
... especially when said other end phone is a cellphone used under less than ideal conditions. Since covid my family doctor does appointments by phone using his cell phone as a speaker-phone propped up on his desk with all the room acoustics. Hearing difficulties are just one part of the problem though. At my age, I have some difficulty in expressing my problem to a person on the other end of a phone, who is younger, speaks too quickly and is obviously in a hurry. It's much easier (for me) to set my thoughts down (and edit them if necessary) in an email. Bui it seems no one wants to do it these days. Edited By Peter Greene 🇨🇦 on 18/06/2023 17:45:31 |

I've had the same kind of thing with locksmiths. Some of them simply don't do email any more - you are expected to phone (or at least text) them. |
