Have you got more pictures? Chuck? Collets? Steve
The chuck looks just like any other autolock chuck. No markings on it anywhere. The Collets are the same no markings other than sizes.

Take a look at this. I think the collets are the same as yours.
Very similar but they appear to be the 2 piece type as described by Simon.

Saw this on YouTube yesterday. The "metal snowflake" is the coolest part! There is an interesting accompanying video about it and tight tolerances here: https://youtube.com/watch?v=q3t8nKkT5Lo&time_continue=442 |

Hi Thanks for the help, I've been searching Google for about a week now and nothing? Not even a picture or anything similar. Edited By Hollowpoint on 13/02/2016 19:26:36 |

A friend has an apt saying: "Always buy the one you're going to finish up with anyway."
I have a similar saying: "Buy sh*te buy twice" |

I have both a draper expert and a mitutoyo. They both give identical readings but like others have said the mitutoyo is much smoother. When held next to each other its obvious the mitutoyo is build to a better standard, the materials feel better quality and the fit and finish is just better. |

Lovely little item Hollowpoint, it's nice to make "quickies" like this in between the larger jobs [keeps you sane!! Graham.
Yeah I like to make little projects. I have the attention span of a goldfish so the bigger projects never get finished.

Very nice! I wonder how many people will be inspired to make their own?
I hope someone will. I always like to see other people's work and I'm sure some of you more experienced guys could knock one up in an afternoon! |

Got this done yesterday. Soldered, wick inserted and filled with cotton. Works great! I'm probably gonna make a knurled cap to replace the domed nut but its otherwise finished.

I believe Boxford still make a manual lathe. I don't know the price but I wouldn't be surprised if it was a five figure sum. |

Yes they are a nice little piece of history, it never seizes to amaze me just how creative soldiers could be with almost nothing to work with. I couldn't justify paying the prices they make on ebay so thought it would make a nice project. Edited By Hollowpoint on 06/02/2016 21:18:42 |
Thread: Question about knurling wheels |
06/02/2016 21:05:11 |
The pin measures about 5.5x mm so I'm guessing it's 7/32". Chronos seems to have them with that bore size but it doesn't mention the width? |
06/02/2016 20:10:13 |
I picked up a clamp type knurling tool today from a sale. It's a substantial thing made by marlco but it's missing the actual wheels. It's a long shot but does anyone know what size wheels I need? and where to get them. |

Be interesting to see how the wheel is made in the article. I imagine like a small gear.
Ill try to keep the image size down. |

The striker wheel, the spring inside and bottom screw are from a cheapo petrol lighter I bought from poundland lol. The brass part I made to suit. |
05/02/2016 19:44:23 |
Correct! It's a trench art style lighter. How did you know? Here is the striker, kinda gives the game away. Parts put together before soldering
