Hi Ian. I just did exactly what you are doing last month. I got brand new drive pins and the eccentric shoe direct from Boxford. My only tips are that I cracked my drive gear when inserting the new pins. I assumed as they came from Boxford that the press fit was acceptable.....but they were too tight. Just be careful with this. Good luck. Mike |

Hello. I'm trying to spec the right inverter for my VM30 so I can run it from 230v. Can anyone help me by taking a picture of their motor data plate on their machine for me? I have searched all over my motor and inside the junction box and there is no data plate. I want to know if it's capable of dual voltage and what the power and rated current is. I found one image online of another machine showing a 1.1kW motor which was only rated for 415v and 3 amps. I.e not dual voltage. My motor looks original I was just suprised it had no data plate. Any advice appreciated! Thanks in advance Mike |

Hello All. I've also just got a vm30 and all looks in good condition and I ran it up this week. I wasn't happy with the sound of the gearbox so have taken it to pieces. I found very little grease left in as it's worked it's way out. The gears and bearings look fine but the spindle tapers were not preloaded and resulted in some play. I'm baffled about the centre layshaft. It just pulled out by hand and I can't see anything that's supposed to hold it in place? Does anyone have any advise or drawings? I'll have to work out how to post pictures. It's hard to find info on this machine. Thanks Mike |
