Thread: 12v and 5v power supplies |

Hi, guys, would it be possible to use the below and run one of the cables to the LM2596 which would then draw it down to the 5v to run the RPi? And run the other to the LCD controller board for the 12v?
Thanks Edited By Jake Atkinson on 20/11/2015 10:58:07 Edited By Jake Atkinson on 20/11/2015 10:58:26 |

Im open to having an external power supply and splitting the supply inside the box. Would the LM2596 be able to run both 12v and 5v at the same time though?

Hi, The 5v will be around 300mA and im not too sure on the 12v but the screen is a LTN121W4-L01 touchscreen display and the powerboard is M.NT68676.2A. Hope this helps

Hi Guys, I will detail as much as i can: The 5v mini USB is to go into a Raspberry Pi B+ and the 12v is to go to a LCD screen controller board http://www.bonanza.com/listings/M-Nt68676-2-A-Hdmi-Dvi-Vga-Audio-Lcd-Led-Screen-Controller-Board-Diy-Monitor/296088874 The other problem i have is that the box that both of the boards will be housed in side of is only 150mm x 140mm x 30mm. I have attached a 3d image of the project. I have knowledge of electrics and am fairly proficient when working with them but with this being a power supply i want to make sure im getting it right. Thanks for your help Edited By Jake Atkinson on 20/11/2015 08:48:29 |

I have a small project with two circuit boards that both need different amounts of power. One needs a 12volt DC supply and the other needs a 5v supply using a mini USB cable. My question is, is there something i can use so that there is only one plug powering both? Thanks |

Hi Guys, Yea running from the mains isn't really what im looking for but thanks. I have found this **LINK** which im going to use. Im going to mount the small joystick at the top of the neck so this can be accessed easily and be used easily. Thanks for all your ideas and suggestions. I will post pictures of how i get on. Thanks again. |

Hi Andrew,
It sounds mechanical, it has lots of grease and runs fine but just cant get rid of the noise plus when it is inside a guitar body the wood amplifies the sound. The pickup slides perfectly fine with little effort but when i try and use a normal dc motor with no gears to slow it down it simply doesnt move.

Hi,
Yes it is a big part of the design. I am running the servo using an Arduino so not sure it would be able to run a stepper motor?
Thanks |

Hi, I am building a custom guitar and i have a pickup mounted on two sliders (aluminium poles with linear bullbearing bushing). I then have a small pulley mounted one end and the servo mounted at the other with a belt attached to the underneath of the pickup mount. I have attached a quick google sketchup of what i mean. My question is, the servo is generally quite noisy and i am using is as it has all of the gears built in for the motor to be able to pull the pickup. Is there any alternatives that anyone can think of with less noise? Thanks |

Hi guys,
I figured it out.
I have another small question for you all. I am using a servo motor controlled by and Arduino but it is quite noisy. Any ideas on how i can make it quieter or any alternatives?
Thanks |

Hi Guys,
Have been able to create something on sketchup for an idea i have of raising the top piece and flipping it over to reveal the phone. Would this work?
So the 'box' in the center would hold a small motor attached to a spindal of some kind to flip the piece over and then the phone would cover the gap where the motor is located. The reverse side of the 'box' would be blank so when not in use the whole thing flips and it seems there is nothing there.
I hope this makes sense. |

Hi guys,
Thanks for you replies. I am at work so have just made a quick doodle on paint to show you what i mean. Id like the phone to be hidden when not in use but be able to somehow raise from the body of the guitar and angle at around 80degrees to be able to see the screen. The problem i am having and is what screwed with all of my ideas is the dimensions for the phone are 155 x 80 x 9mm and the body is only 45mm so having it sit like 'toast' wouldnt work. sorry for the terrible image attached https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10153625882373383&l=4f9bd53071 |

Hi, I am building a custom guitar and want to mount a mobile phone inside the body to be able to then reveal the phone with the push of a button. The guitar body is built using 3 layers of 15mm thickness. I would like to be able to hide the phone and have it somehow raise out of the body and however with it being a guitar it has limited space. I would like to use an Arduino and was thinking of using a Micro servo motor to raise the phone but am not sure how to hide it. Any ideas anyone? any questions let me know.
