Thread: Very soft stretchy rubber grommets, where from?
06/02/2019 22:10:30

I think I know the type of thing you are looking for but for the life of me I can't name them.

In the meantime is there anything suitable from this grommet company....

Why not use what is specified, worst price I've seen was £4 a metre.

It didn't take long for someone to jump on the "it must be climate change" bandwagon.

A bridge rectifier does not control voltage only ensures DC voltage.

Only thing that I would add is to start the job in the morning, then if you need something else the chances are the suppliers are still open.

Thread: Source of Aluminium Lined Plastic Water Pipe?
09/12/2018 16:13:49

Not sure about antenna length effects here but two possible alternatives maybe -

Plastic tubing made around a spiral metal wire. The wire is continuous but going around the tube diameter could triple (pi*d) the length.

Second option is externally braided tubing, a bit like brake hoses etc.

Thread: Mini-Lathe Repair

My mini-lathe (Chester) has instructions how to lubricate the head, a bit hap-hazard but there all the same. Check your instruction set.

Mind you, a good stall can do all sorts of damage if you're unlucky.

Thread: The demise of the High Street
03/12/2018 12:26:17

Let's be honest this all started years ago when the supermarkets started building outside the town centres.

We, well lots of us, started shopping there and it was followed by people complaining that their local butcher/baker or greengrocer had shut. Without the staple shop trade the town centres were bound to collapse and yet we still blame everything/everyone else about the state of our local high street.

It's not going to change back so we have to do the best that we can with what's left.

Danny a nice bit of family history to pass on.

Mind you, someone up there now has a list of names responsible for all the bits of litter we have been placing on the planet. The penalty notice is in the post. smiley

Thread: Space Ship leaves Earth's Atmosphere

Excellent, what always amazes me with these ISS shots is the amount of 'debris' flying around them.

Thread: 1950/60 car electronic rev counter

Some rev counters used a feed from the alternator, normally on diesels.
