This type of thread always gets a thumbs up from me, you begin to realise the vast and diverse knowledge base that we have contact with now-a-days within a relatively small family of like minded people.

If I can add my little towards skin care, a few years back my wife started getting cracked skin on her hands, very similar to 'old Harry's 'ands' from years gone by. This we found was due to a preservative in hand washes and hand creams, also shampoo and cosmetics.

The product is called methylisothiazolinone , see **LINK** for more info. Since we removed this from our house and usage both of us had improved skin conditions.

If you look inside the terminal lid there should be a picture/graphic showing the link settings for star and delta.

Slightly off topic but having looked at the OP link to GROUNDFLATSTOCK.COM they have useful heat treatment data sheets for all of the products.

Agreed, it is a three phase motor, it can be run on 230v single phase but will probably overheat, as you have found.

The single phase method is called the Steinmetz method. Our friend Google will find quite a few useful results.

As a simple minded small lathe user I would query using grease in the chuck due to greases ability to hold onto swarf.

I know that chips will stick to oil but have more chance, perhaps, of being flung out when the chuck is rotating.

My small chuck has an oil hole not a grease nipple.

After I've oiled my chuck I wrap it in kitchen paper towel, held on with an elastic band, and run it at high speed. This gets the excess oil out quite well.

Graphite crucibles are good, general ebay result from google.....

Don't know personally but my mate Google found loads of "small bevel gears", might be dome in there that are suitable.

One problem that I foresee for the UK market at least is where are these cars going to get recharged.

Modern housing units seem to be built without garages and in some cases there isn't even a parking space attached to the property.

Or refrigerant pipe flaring tool, yes missing the part that does the work.
