Bill, would you be so kind and send me a copy of the PDF. I will send you a private message containing my e mail address. Alan. |

On sht 9 of drawings I believe the 2 5/16 dimn from bottom of cab should be 3 5/16. I have drawn this out and 2 5/16 does not look right. Hopefully there will be a Pansy on display at the Bristol ME exhibition later this month. Hi Peter, can you clarify your comments above. I have just checked sht 9 and cannot locate dimension 2 5/16. There is a dimension 2 15/16 from the bottom of the cab side to the window. I am some way off getting my Pansy build to that point of the construction but would like to know what the correct dimension should be. Thanks, Alan. |

I Agree regarding comments about Doncaster being better than Harrogate. It is in a bigger hall compared to Harrogate with higher ceilings and significantly better facilities. I was there on Friday and enjoyed the models on display and spent a few bob in the process. But went home happy. Alan. |

Brian, try researching "Fuidics and Low Pressure" control systems. I recall many years ago, before the proliferation of programmable electronic logic controllers, using fluidics for operating machine control valves etc. Nand's, Nor's And's, Or's, Flip Flops, etc. "Fuidics"!!!!!! should have spelt Fluidics. Kwil, in what way do you think Doncaster is a poorer venue compared to Harrogate? Personally I think Doncaster is significantly better. The hall is bigger and more spacious than the low roofed claustrophobic and cramped Harrogate. At Doncaster there is more space for the stands and the aisles are wider so you don't have to fight and push your way through. The catering / food at Harrogate was terrible quality and not ideally located between the two mail halls. When I had lunch at last years Doncaster show I sat in the main stand in the sun enjoying the flying display. Could not do that at Harrogate! |
Thread: Doncaster ME Show and Warco. |

John, tyre kickers are not new. They have been around since day one so that is not the reason Warco is not attending Doncaster show. I speculate that it is more to do with their operating margins being squeezed. When this occurs the first place companies look to cut is their advertising budgets. My guess is they have looked at the investment required to attend Doncaster show and decided that the return does not justify the outlay. I would also say that as they buy most of their equipment from China (who trade in US$) they are experiencing pricing problems due to the fall in the £ sterling. In the short term this should not be a problem for two reasons. The first is that it is prudent to hedge the currency exchange rate between the £ and $ which most companies do to protect from fluctuations. Most contracts are relatively short term of around a year. However most contracts include a clause if the exchange rate changes significantly, it triggers renegotiation of the rate. As we all know sterling dropped by an unprecedented amount last year after the referendum. The second point is that most companies will have a supply agreement agreed which includes fixed pricing but again there will be a get out jail clause to protect against significant volatility. However knowing and being involved with the Chinese I know that a contract to them is just a piece of paper and they will tear it up if things go wrong and walk away. The Chinese are ruthless and tough negotiators but the interesting thing about them is their code of honour. If you look him in the eye and shake his hand this means more to them than a bit of paper. It would however be interesting to hear something from Warco or the show organisers. Strange how quite they have been. |

The riposte to that is 'if we charge the customer enough to cover the cost to run artics, staff and goods up and down the country for 5 or 6 days at a time they will desert us in droves for eBay'
Neil, where do you think this cost goes? Companies have a sales and general admin (S. G. & A.) charge line on their P & L account and this type of cost, when the annual budgets are set, is then usually amortised across the product range to determine the selling price of the product. I say usually because some companies apportion different amounts of the charge to different product ranges / lines depending upon their sales strategy. But I can assure you somewhere along the line the customer pays for it. These companies are not run on charitable lines and all of their operating expenses do and should be incorporated into product cost. |

So who paying to run artics, staff and goods up and down the country for 5 or 6 days at a time ? Quite simply WE are as the cost is amortised into the sales price charged to the customer!! |

I concur with Andrew Evans' earlier posting. The internet has changed our purchasing habits for some things. Most people would be OK buying small tooling and accessories over the internet but I do not believe most people will make a major capital purchase this way. If it did ever transpire it would be very bad news for the likes of Warco and Chester as people would start to buy direct from OEM's and purchase over the internet direct from Chinese manufacturers cutting out the middle man. Their only advantage if this does occur is the, not to be underestimated, after sales support that a UK based supplier can offer. However as I say this does not bode well for UK machine tool suppliers, especially to the ME hobbyist. |

Just went back and checked. The topic was Warco GH universal milling machine dismantling advice, half way down page two. Posted by Mark Webster. I hope it is wrong and they do attend as I think Warco equipment and after sales support is first class and I would be disappointed if we did not have them fully involved. |
09/03/2017 20:41:34 |
Yes I saw that previously and mentioned it in reply to the other posting. I forget the name of the person posting but he replied that he had received an e mail from Warco informing they would not be attending. |

I picked up on another posting, on this forum, that Warco will not be attending this years Doncaster Show. This is very disappointing and I replied that I felt that Warco were giving up on their customers and sales in the north of England. I believe that the various shows, up and down the country, are incredibly important for the future success of our hobby. We don't just go to see the models on display but also to review and evaluate potential new equipment purchases by seeing them in the flesh so to speak. My personal view is that we should prioritise and support those companies that attend the shows, to ensure their ongoing and continued involvement at the various events. As their contribution is so important. |
Thread: Brazing |

Thanks for the feedback, it is appreciated. I think Cup Alloys may have the right answer as I fully opened the regulator anticipating to regulate the flame by the nozzle adjustment knob. I will try again with the regulator closed off a little more. Julian, good to hear from you, next time I will try keeping the flame further back from the job. It won't be the lack of gas in the bottle, or it shouldn't be, as it is a new bottle. But your comment is dually logged into the memory bank. Thanks everybody, Alan. |

I have been brazing a number of parts for my 5" Pansy loco today and 4 or 5 times my Sievert Pro 86 torch kept flaming out. I have a regulator attached to the bottle but not sure what might be causing it. Can anybody provide me with some advise as to what is going wrong. Thanks, Alan. |

Hi Peak 4, thanks for the heads up. I am very interested and will make an offer. Also thanks to Duncan Webster for the link. I have downloaded the drawings and if I don't get the Quorn castings I will build a unit from scratch. Alan. |

Mark, are you sure Warco will not be at Doncaster this year? The exhibition web site still has them listed in the trade info as attending. Alan. |
