14/02/2015 22:05:53

Hello all, Just a quick note to say I have put my lanky tank engine castings on ebay

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Model-Steam-Engine-5-034-Gauge-039-Lanky-039-/111599210215?

ebay item 111599210215

Thanks to all for enquiries and advise, hope they find a good owner.

Regards

Steve

Rik, Thank you that is most helpful - not teaching granny atall... I work as an Engineer but until a few days ago I had no contact with the world of steam.

Ebay seems like a good idea to be fair to the owner and anyone else that might be interested.

I guess the postage would be quite heavy as I struggled to carry all the castings up the stairs together .

Cheers Steve

Thanks, I remember now the owner refered to the parts as the 'Lanky tank engine' so that makes sense.

Thanks Neil ,

I have very little information on this engine and no idea on it's value. Hope it's okay to put in a general request for help and advice before I submit a classified ad,

Steve

Thread: Help needed to find new owner for 5" gauge locomotive

Hello all,

I'm new to this forum and the world of model steam engines.

A retired friend has asked me to find a new owner for his project steam locomotive that he bought new many years ago . Unfortunately he is not in the best of health and has recently lost access to his workshop. He has no internet access so has asked me to help.

He tells me there is a complete set of bronze and iron castings and a full set of drawings (dated 1974 by Don Young) to build the engine. None of the castings have been machined as yet.

There is also a set of drawings for a 5" gauge class 37 electric locomotive that might be of interest to someone ?

If anyone could tell me more about what I have I would be grateful. I had thought about listing the drawings and castings on ebay but I have no idea what they might be worth?. I'm not sure if ebay is the best place to find an enthusiastic new owner?.

I have pictures but haven't work out how to post them here yet!.

Thanks in advance, Steve

I think he paid about £400 for them 8 years ago.
