Hello Russ, thank you for the reply.

Looks like a similar system, i have a backing plate on the sensor which i fit first before screwing the sensor bar to this.

I could drill and tap jacking screws into the backing plate then attach a level.

Good idea, thank you.

Hello all,

in the process of fitting the new dro,

has anyone any experience of fitting the y axis, and how they shimmed the scale vertical ?

thanks in advance.

Hello all.

Fast approaching the completion of the rear wheels and so would like to thank everyone for your help so far, without this I would be lost.

I would like to turn my attention to the boiler, can anyone recommend any books that would be helpful for me to read?

Thanks

Brian

Thread: Cancelled subscription
31/01/2015 12:02:47

It's my own fault, I pay by direct debit and never noticed they had not taken the money out for a while.

I read the magazine via newsstand on the ipad, but this morning it asked me to pay to download the latest issue,

I am sure a quick call to them on Monday will get it sorted, just hope they allow me to download today's copy.

Hello all,

Been an avid rear of both ME & MEW since April last year, but for some reason my subscription to ME has been cancelled, in the past when I have had to contact subscriptions it has taken weeks to get a reply, guess the quickest route is to just take out a new subscription and keep an eye on my direct debits.

Anyone else experienced this?

Thread: DRO on a WM18 mill

Thanks all for your reply's, very interesting read and most helpful.

Trying to prevent the fitting of these becoming more of a hindrance than a help so thank you.

Have ordered a set from gt precision,

Nick, must say those you fitted looked the business, but may have raised a few eyebrows.

will report back on progress.

Thanks again,

Hello.

Managed to get a little time today to turn up the off side inner plate but think i have a very slight discrepancy between to face which is in contact with the wheel hub and the 7/16 bore.

does anyone know of a material i can use as a 7/16 shaft to align the hub and the plate whilst i solder the two together.

Thanks in advance

Will give it a try, Thankyou

14/01/2015 16:23:00

Thanks Jason for the reply, good job i asked.

The original hubs where made from SAE660, i have found some PB102 which i could use for the covers, any idea if these two materials would solder ok ?

09/01/2015 17:53:23

Thanks Jason,

think your right, I am making the drum from steel, a bush is not really needed as it's not going any where but will add it anyway.

one thing I wanted to ask, I am going to make the hub covers next, these need soldering onto the hubs when done,

really worries about doing this, is the solder paste sold by cup alloys the stuff I need?

thanks

Brian

Hello again, need a bit more help if I may.

About to turn up the brake drum, I have noticed looking at pictures on the net that

some people have inserted a bronze bush, is this needed you think?

Thanks, Brian

Thanks Jason,

Thanks Jason, guessing all the suppliers are as good as each other, should I be asking any questions or just order them.

Hello all, happy new year to everyone.

Need to purchase the gears for the minnie I am building, no chance of making these parts myself,

Am I correct in assuming they are machine cut and not water jet or laser cut ?

thanks for any help

Brian

Thread: Myford service

Thanks chaps for taking the time to reply, sorry for the delayed response.

I have confused myself with this, not sure now if it's a knock, a rattle or what, so have taken the decisive decision to turn the radio up..until I have time to investigate it properly,

providing it doesn't get worse , I think I will live with it.

25/11/2014 22:51:17

Hello, really not sure.

Tried the screw driver against the ear tonight and seems to be coming from the clutch area..

could be the thrust bearing maybe, not a problem just an annoyance.

24/11/2014 23:54:16

Hello, thanks Brian, that's a very good point, it is literally tick, tick, tick,

I have had no reply from the email I sent to Darren, so maybe a job to do during the Xmas break.
