the odd tool is for unscrewing the battery cover isnt it ?
That had me stumped, I was thinking it was going to be for something much more complicated than that. Why'd they'd even include it is a mystery. |

Jason what do you use on the handle of the vice a socket and socket handle? What would you rate that 80mm vice out of 10? |

Ah thanks Thor for pointing out the use of the anvil attachment as soon as I read what you said, i realised how handy it would be for what you pointed out, someone on Youtube also told me that they thingomebob I asked about is to unscrew the battery cover. Sometimes things are right in front of your face! So I've learnt two things at least today, which has made it a better day. Cheers and thanks again, Jim |

Thread: Putting some grip (stippling) on an aluminium drive pulley. |

Worked out great for its intended purpose running small steam toy accessories (that some are prone to slippage) no wear on the green watchmakers lathe belt. |

I'd love to try that Paul. |

Putting some grip (stippling) on an aluminium drive pulley. I've always wanted to work out a way to put some extra grip on a home made drive pulley to prevent or cut down on belt slippage. It would be nice to have the tooling that Wilesco use on their grooved pulleys. I had a Dremel saw accessory that the outer plastic shell broke and I thought what can I do with the saw blade. Rudimentary, but it worked well. I should be able to work out now a way to mount it so it doesn't need to be held, though its not as dangerous as that looks and being hand held allowed me to skew the saw blade at the various angles needed easily.

Thread: UNS 1/4" x 32 the same as ME 1/4" x 32 ? |

Thanks XD, I wanted to make up some extra BIX gas burner copper lines with gas jets for some steam engines and the thread is Me 1/4" x 32" I have all the other ME taps & dies except that. I get a lot of stuff from LRP we are lucky that we have them for a lot of things. Getting them in from the UK, the postage is always rising. |

Thread: Cheap Milling Vice Question |
29/09/2020 04:27:48 |
Set up my old cast iron Carter mill vice well fluxed in a made up jig vice and brought it to glowing red with the oxy in the brick hearth and silver brazed it with 45% silver solder. The solder ran very well into the two splits. Cooled it off and pickled the flux residue off, cleaned and oiled it all up and put it back together. Not sure how long it will hold (hopefully for good) but it seems like its very strong and everything has lined up and feels as smooth as always. First time I have silver brazed cast iron. |

Presumably not Chain of Custody or even Commander in Chief. Ahh. So many acronyms, so few letters in the alphabet! Something to do with protecting the commercial advertisers I believe. I'm sure one of the Mods will explain all shortly. Pero Thanks Pero |

This could (possibly) test the CoC, as the most obvious supplier of these is b******d? This one likely came from that supplier (they are likely passing on ones with ‘wonky’ flywheels, mis-aligned parts, etc.🙂 This one must have been made late on a Friday afternoon before a long weekend. |
