Thread: cutting 8mm steel plate |
05/04/2017 21:27:40 |
Hi clogs you could use an angle grinder either 4.5" or 9" with steel cutting discs very cheap for the discs. As a company we use this method for most site work pipe cutting and plate etc, The 4.5" easy to control and cuts very well discs about 50p each.

Thread: Diamond Tool Holder 12 or 16mm |
09/01/2017 21:27:15 |
The size of the tool shank is also the the height of the cutting tip so unless your toolpost can be adjusted below the 15mm indicated on image the 16mm tool will be too high, the size of the insert for home use will probably not matter larger insert is more robust and more expensive, securing the tool with two screws will be fine. Thanks for the advice. (Reference: The key slot is for the flywheel on my 6" scale traction engine which is 1.1/8" ID x 3" long) I have also found a copy of the Machinerys Handbook which has dimensions of taper keys (BS 4235) showing that the key and slot has a 1 in 100 taper but does not show how to make it. Also found this site for fitting a gib key: http://www.utterpower.com/fitting_gib_keys.htm
