I have the machine set up and running and have done the Sieg logo test piece. I have drawn a couple of simple parts I want to make in Fusion 360 I want to make on the mill. i am struggling with putting in the data required by Fusion 360 for cutter speeds and feed rates etc. The milling cutters come with some of this information but my machine does not achieve anything like the spindle they suggest. i want to machine mild steel and aluminium primarily, is there an idiots guide to this subject to get me going. Found lots of complicated formulas on the Internet but maths is not one of my strong points. Any help rear fully recieved. it will not let me edit the title it should be step. A possible solution is to have the bores and the valve area hard chrome plated, like the high performance model aircraft engines. The challenge would be finding someone to do it. |

Hello Les I have loaded the Sieg files, on the main Mach 3 screen it shows KX1 my machine and it has the "correct" Tool information but will not run on this. I have loaded the additional file to run the USB lead the machine has. The main screen shows KX1 USB and works but different Tool information. Edited By Old School on 04/05/2019 16:07:07 |

Having read the mach3 forum xp seems the way to go. It must be possible to load xp onto my vista machine a disk is not that expensive on the bay but I am no computer wiz. |

My day has not been that successful, I have tried to load Mach3 onto a machine running Vista. I know the Sieg manual says it won't work but Mach 3 says it will with the fix. I did the fix lots of reboots but I cannot find the file driver test.exe. Given up until back from hols and I will contact the Mach software people see what they think before buying an XP machine. |

My KX1 was delivered yesterday and a couple of weeks ago I bought a Aldi 3D printer, I am going to be on a steep learning curve. When I know what I am doing one of the first jobs is going to be removing the metal from the inside of pistons it's not s fun job to do on a manual machine in batches of ten. |

The last time I used a cad it was Autocad 12 running in dos. Having bought an Aldi 3d printer I now need to use cad again. I have a free version of Fusion 360 and have started doing the online tutorials by Lars Christensen it's a lot easier than I expected I hope to be able to print my first own design part in a couple of weeks. |

I think it's expensive, last year my son bought a very nice Dore Westbury mk1 milling machine and a tidy fobco star drilling machine for £500. Must be said the chap did in the end regret selling it. |

Thread: ER25 v 5C Collets |
17/02/2019 07:40:04 |
I have both but prefer the 5c collets, I like my 5c collet chuck and the ability to hold short length that you cannot do in ER collets without a support piece. I wouldn't be without either system both have there own advantages.
