Thread: Galloways NDC engine - oil feed
08/09/2022 12:02:06

I am currently building a Galloways model, and I want to fit an oil pump. Should I feed the oil into the steam chests or the cylinders?

I would appreciate your comments/advice.

Thread: SORTING OUT MY 4X6 BANDSAW
01/07/2020 18:16:06

I have been using my rejuvenated bandsaw. Works beautifully! Today been cutting discs from a 65mm dia piece of cast iron. Cuts with what looks like finely machined surface.

But I wonder whether I should back off the saw blade tension between jobs - sometimes it will be a week or two between operations.

Any advice on reducing tension during "resting time"?

I raised a query a couple of weeks ago because my saw would not cut straight - kept veering off to one side. In all I received 10 replies from members of this forum, with loads of help, and I have been able to completely re-set the machine, such that it now works PERFECTLY. I am so pleased, so thankyou to all you chaps who have helped me out.

One bit of help suggested "Tuff Saws" as a blade supplier. I have just fitted one and am delighted with the standard of cutting I now achieve - again, thankyou all for this tip.

Thread: POWER SAW PROBLEM
13/06/2020 16:57:55

I HAVE A "HORIZONTAL / VERTICAL METAL CUTTING BANDSAW" SIMILAR IN EVRY RESPECT TO A DRAPER UNIT. ABOUT 10 YEARS OLD. RECENTLY THE BLADE HAS TAKEN TO VEERING OUT OF VERTICAL DURING CUTS.

BLADE HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH A GOOD STARRATT TYPE, AND ALL 6 WHEELED BEARINGS WHICH GUIDE THE BLADE HAVE BEEN REPLACED.

ON BOTH HIGH AND LOW BELT TENSION SETTINGS THE PROBLEM PERSISTS.

ANY IDEAS? WOULD VERY MUCH APPRECIATE YOUR ADVICE,

ROB

Thread: PROBLEM WITH MY WARCO ZX15
07/11/2012 14:18:53

I left the lateral locking handle undone, and in a milling operation the tool bit in and the head swung sharply left. Impact bent chuck arbor - replaced it. Chuck still had major wobble, replaced the chuck. Now looks like quill and/or spindle displaced off-centre at their top end, and stripdown needed to check. Bottom of spindle running true +/- .0005", but end of cutter or drill describing small circlkes rather than staying vertical. Draw bar now stiff for half each turn - draw bar is straight, suggesting it is locating in off-centre socket and rubbing at one side as it is tightened.

Anybody had the same problem to deal with?

Anybody done a stripdown and can tell me how to dis-assemble?

In hope .......... Rob
