With the topslide mounted, or rather balanced, on top (where else), it was established that tool height was substantially unchanged from the original spec. Things were certainly looking to be going my way for a change! I have yet to decide whether to mill a circular tee slot as per the original cross slide to mount the topslide or not. I am inclined to think yes - if only to retain the versatility of the swivel system for chamfering, cutting tapers and threading, etc.
