Climb milling remains a risky strategy on machines where the slides are liable to sudden movement under the forces of a climb-milling cut.

If you have ball-screws, anti-backlash feed-nuts, a preloaded table or your machine has been carefully adjusted so that the cutter cannot grab the table, then climb milling has advantages, especially with carbide cutters.
