More about me:
Designer, photographer, engineer and integrator. I get into long term projects and stick with them until they work or I know they can never work. All my projects have been at the cutting edge of new technology - they always carry a risk but I enjoy working on the borderline between "the doable" and the "not doable" and more often than not have been lucky in getting the balance right. In any case there is always bonus - I learn something while I am having fun. I am theoretically retired!
Just finishing a new 450sq ft workshop in my rear garden. - It is designed for the development of GULLIVER which is a new genre of engineering robots. Originally Guilliver was to be a community project opens source code free licence and all that good stuff that goes with a community project. However the Topic that created the opportunity for community involvement was not allowed to continue so it will no longer be open source or licence free.
The distinguishing feature of Gulliver is a design enabling engineering within a model. Current robotic tools are designed to operate on a model which is located in free space. The closest analogy for Gulliver is keyhole surgery. The biggest challenge for the Gulliver design is controlling the navigation of toolheads, processes and materials inside a space whilst maintaining a capacity for precise engineering. If Gulliver can deliver the requisite tools to meet this challenge then the remaining tasks are known to be "doable".
The workshop environment for Gulliver development has taken 30 months to construct & I started to move equipment in at the beginning of August 2011. You are welcome to contact me privately to discuss GULLIVER. I am not making announcements or discussing GULLIVER on this forum. my email address (work it out- it is written it to defeat web harvesters it is in the form of [myfirstname] the @ sign [vizion2000.net].Thanks for looking
