Automotive manufacturing, production and quality engineer for 40 years. New to model making when I retired as I bought a wreck of a 5" Prairie tank engine (4750) with an OK copper boiler and a complete set of Martin Evans drawings. I soon found the drawings to be somewhat wanting in accuracy for manufacturing purposes, and I put my stamp on the tank design to make them look more like the 5100 and the hand pump in the balance tank. I have now bought a 5" V2 (Green Arrow) project that has the chassis complete with wheels and part machined cylinders - another Martin Evans design which came with a complete set of drawings. I've given myself 2 years to complete the project and have already ordered a copper boiler - I hope the drawings are correct. I have found some detail errors on some parts and will continue to use the ME drawings as a guide.
