“DaveyR”
Retired male, motor vehicle engineering, road and traffic safety background.
Self-taught 'inventor', machinist, welder and general maker/mender, re-purposing, recycling nut.
Have re-built part of own workshop/garage using concrete floor, brick and block walls and standard joist supported double felted insulated roof with vapour barrier.
Installed armoured mains supply and wired both areas as per standards, checked and signed off by qualified electrician.
Plumbed the spaces and installed water heater. Installed background and immediate use heating.
Re-sited and levelled machine tools and am now attempting to get the space set out so that it is 'workable'.
Have decided that it's too small, but like many of us, am working on finding ways of coping. However, this is proving a challenge since my work generally includes at least two out of my three main interest areas namely: machining; hot metal working (hammers and anvils and welding/brazing), and woodworking.
Enjoy helping family, neighbours, friends and acquaintances with 'fixing stuff' or repairing or making unique pieces for them.
Ain't life great?
