31 forum posts 4 photos | I'd recommend Alice to anyone that doesn't have unlimited time. She is well built, nice looking, and not hard to final assemble. Alice fires easily and keeps up a good pressure without difficulty. The usual model engineer tools will be required. The boiler does not meet AMBSC standards. She exceeds them by far (thicker plate, heavier stays, and more of them than required) but you can't change the attitude of the "we-say-so" brigade. I'm not into clubs so it doesn't matter a toss to me. There are some bugs in the assembly, mainly clearances and iffy metric fittings. Leaky valves can need adressing too. I kept a log of the issues and solutions as I went so if anyone is interested in the road to utopia, please let me know. Cheers, Geoff. |
