V8 Vaccum Engine?

I want to start a new project, and I was thinking vaccum engine. I've seen v4 engines of the sort, but would a v8 be possible? I know it should be, but has anybody tried one or does anyone have some proof of concept?

If you don't get what I mean by vaccum engine, then flame licker, flame eater or flame gulper are other common names for them.
