An interesting way to judge the public interest in a subject; from 2004 Google have been compiling data on web activity over time. This is not a standard topic search it rates the number of searches made on various search terms. Scroll down the page to see other search terms near your requested search. I use this tool all the time now for researching. I put a shortcut on the desktop. Here is a link to the search for the words “Model engineering” It looks like the UK is at the top then India then Australia
The US being a poor fourth However overall the trend is waning. We better start promoting our special interest. Now a link to the search for the words “CNC Machine” India is at the top of the list!
The UK not doing so well. The trend overall is up. China does not show no doubt because Google pulled out of China. However India shines bright. Just for interest’s sake "News of the world" (Over the last 90 days) It is a very useful tool to search the interest in a particular company and will often give a list of news items. Good if you run a retirees superannuation fund.
