1 forum posts | Hi - my mother is moving house and has found all my late father's Model Engineer magazines. Not sure how many there are but there will be quite a few up to about 2003, I think. Also she has the engine and tender, which has been pressure tested that he was building before his death. It is a GWR made to plans for Ivy Hall. Does anyone know how much such a thing could be sold at please? Thanks |

3 forum posts | Hi Yvonne, Sorry to see you in this situation. Model Engineer magazines aren't worth much sadly, which always surprises me. I was given a huge number of said magazines last year from someone in a similar postion. If you sell individually you may get £1 per issue, but then get left with a load that nobody wants and make the collection less attractive. If you sell as a job lot you may get £100-£200.......and probably only if someone is local to collect (seeing as I got mine free I paid for DHL to deliver mine). As for the loco - obviously it depends on its status. If I were you I would take lots of clear, good resolution, detailed photos and advertise on eBay, explaining the situation. Steam-buffs scour eBay and it will be a good way to get a good and fair return without someone trying their luck on an unsuspecting seller. That's how I would go about it, other's may have different advice. Best regards, Mike. |

Is ther a model engineering club in your area? (details from the local library if you still have one). If so I am sure you would get good and fair advice from them.
Alternatively if you divulge the general area where you live, there may be a forum member who could help.
Not only do you need to get a fair price but I suspect that you and your mother would get satisfaction from knowing that your fathers items go to a good home and are cheished.
Regards
