20 forum posts | I have mocked up a set of plates for a wooden RHS type clock and i am looking at ways to lighten the wheels etc, by removing the maintaining work from the centre wheel this would go a long way to reach my goal. I am not interested in 8 day running as this is not high on my list but would Hugens endles chain drive be a good option, any thoughts most welcome, cheers David |

2 forum posts | You don't need a maintaining power if you use the Huygens endless chain loop. It inherently gives the same drive torque to the drive train even when it is being 'rewound'. 8 day with about 1000 mm fall of the weight driving a great wheel turning 2x per day is possible with 44mm pcd drive sprocket. |

20 forum posts | Hi Ralph, thanks for the reply and i will use the Huygens idea for my first clock but i was thinking out loud about any effects the drive would have with a remontoire fitted, i think its more of a case of having the right amount of weight to match the escapement needs to what the remontoire needs, cheers David |
