I would like to start making mechanical sculptures that would involve aspects of model engineering. I have a project were I want to build a hand cranked 16mm projector sculpture. But I am lacking in any experience in this field. I was wondering whether anybody could provide lessons in person about embarking on such a project. Any thoughts would be most appreciated thank you.

Hi Damien,

It's a bit difficult to know whether we can help you when we have no idea where you are?

Regards,

Andrew

I would search on the net for subject matter like

ornamental turning
pittler lathe

Then dedicate a decade or so of my life to it.

I strongly recommend anyone wanting to start model engineering to take the courses offered by SMEE (The Society of Model and Experimental Engineers) http://www.sm-ee.co.uk/ As well as the practical knowledge gained, they are great social occasions with a varied group of like minded people. I'm a very satisfied customer!
Best wishes, Bill.
