Hi All,

My Roadhawk HD dash cam has not been setting the correct date and time for quite a while now.

Just got around to trying to sort it out!

Works OK and announces GPS lock whenever we go out, I have an external GPS antenna built in to the car.

Is there some sort of battery in the camera that may have died? If so can I fix it?

Cheers, Martin

If by quite a while you mean since April 2019 then perhaps the GPS week number rollover may be to blame?

Hi Adrian,

It could be that long.

What is this week number thing please?

Martin

Part of the GPS broadcast includes the week encoded in a 10 bit field (0-1023) which increments for around 20 years and then goes back to zero again. Older devices need a software patch from their makers to update so you will have to search and see if something exists for your device and how to apply it.

GPS Week Number (Wikipedia)

I have a TomTom that no longer predicts arrival time for this reason, unfortunately now unsupported by them so unfixable but still works otherwise.

Bonne chance, there were specific fixes around the time but I would expect any more recent software update to do the trick. It should then be good until 2038.
