Hi all,

I'm making some progress now with putting the lathe back together, today I have refitted the Spindle as per the manual instructions complete with a new belt. However, I don't know if I'm missing something but it doesn't seem right. In the photo below you can see a gap (marked with arrow no 1) now if I leave this gap as shown I have no side to side movement in the V pulleys. and everything is nice and snug with no backlash, however when the back gear is fitted it rubs on the bull wheel.

If I move the bull wheel further over to decrease the gap the back gear fits with no rubbing on the bull wheel but there is some side to side movement in the V pully ( arrow 2) and the thrust washers and bearing are floating about. Is this correct ?
