Adaptor to lengthen car wheelbrace

2878 forum posts 248 photos | Ever had difficulty removing car wheel nuts when you had a puncture? Save yourself some agro and make a simple adaptor which will lengthen the "short" wheel brace supplied with the car by adding the removable towing eye to double its length. My Renault wheelbrace has a hollow handle, so my 'adaptor' has a male pin which slides inside the end of the wheelbrace and a hollow socket which is large enough to fit over the threaded portion of the removable front towing eye. It probably only takes 30 mins to machine it up from a bit of bar, Knurl the outside if you like, no need to thread it, but you could if you liked to. I think the attached photo should explain all. |
