2 forum posts | Hello I use a Colchester Student 1800 lathe fitted with a Hepworth copy attachment and wish to machine a 4 cyl I/C eng valve cam by copying the profile from an existing single cyl eng, I may or may not have had a eureka moment when I came up with the idea that, would it be possible to motorize the pattern i.e.. the single cyl cam with a stepper motor and synchronize the revolutions of this to the revs of the lathe chuck by using a Hall effect bit of trickery i.e.. counting the head stock gear teeth or should I have gone back to sleep again?? Your good thoughts re this will be much appreciated Regards Tony |
