hi all I would like some advice , I have purchased a mark 1 Tom senior milling machine it is in very good condition but there is one small problem the table travis does not work in automatic. the shaft from the gear box is working okay but I think the nut does not close on the shaft am i correct if so how would I go about fixing it many thanks in antisapation

Hello Scrumpy,

​It depends I think on which direction you expect the auto traverse to work in . I own the Junior model, but the design is probably common to both.

​Auto traverse is intended to work only when travelling towards the right. You can use manual powered traverse in the opposite direction, but the auto trip will not then work. It is engaged from under the table with a one sided dog clutch. Remember of course to run the spindle in the correct rotation direction to suit the cutter in use.
