68 forum posts 13 photos | Hello, Just looking at CAD software for 3D modelling of parts to then use later in cnc machining. I started looking at the suggestions of TurboCAD mentioned on the forum and noticed they do a Mac OS version, has anyone used this? I would download demos but my internet connection means it's a 24hour wait Thanks, Chris |

![]() 168 forum posts 12 photos | Have been using TurboCad MacOS Version 7 and currently 8 for a few years now (Originally used Windows but new machine dictated the change) Once you get used to it, it is a very powerful drawing system both for Architecture and Engineering Design - My hardest part was trying to forget the operating commands used in the windows versions as they are totally different. Now I have got the hang of it, I could say that it could be slightly quicker to operate than the windows versions, but there is not a lot to chose between the two. |

68 forum posts 13 photos | Hello, thanks for confirming there's not much between them. Is it flexible with the 3D side, I want to do some complex drawings? I'll have to try download the demo but need to decide the version to look at delux, pro hard to know with slow internet |

264 forum posts 52 photos | Chris, I tried TurboCAD Mac Deluxe 8 for a while, but I found it very frustrating to use. The toolbars differ from the Windows version and some functionality is not available. This makes following the video tutorials somewhat difficult. I paid real money for it, so I was not too happy. Next step was to try the free version of Autodesk's FUSION 360 for the Mac. What a revelation! With no prior experience with the software, I drew up a crankshaft for the engine that I am designing in a few hours. The same part in TurboCAD had taken several days and was still not right. I have not tried the 2D aspects of either package as I have little use at the mo. Hope this helps Dave |
